Pinterest Pin Generator for Apps on the App Store

Spreadcast is a Pinterest pin generator for apps on the App Store. Paste your App Store link once, and it designs a standard image pin for each app update, 5 star review and rating milestone, writes the title and description and publishes it to your board.

A Pinterest Pin Generator That Turns App Updates Into Pins

A typical Pinterest pin maker is a template editor, and a typical AI Pinterest pin generator is a prompt box that draws a tall picture. Both are made for bloggers and shops that publish dozens of pins a week. Spreadcast is for a different account: an app on the App Store whose developer has never made a pin and is not going to start now.

It works from your App Store listing, which it checks every day. A new version becomes a pin that announces the update, with the release notes cut to two or three points. A new 5 star review or a rating milestone becomes a thank you pin. A week with no release gets a pin about one feature. Each pin is a still image made from your icon, colors and screenshots.

Pinterest suits some apps more than others. People use Pinterest to plan things: meals, rooms, trips, outfits, workouts, gardens, weddings, budgets. If your app helps with something a person would save an idea for, pins make sense. If it is a developer tool, a dashboard for sales teams or a game with no planning angle, start with the LinkedIn post generator or the Instagram post generator, and read where to post: Instagram, Pinterest or LinkedIn.

The AI in this pin generator writes words. A language model turns your release notes into the points, the title and the description. The image is a layout with typeset text and your real screenshots, with no generated artwork in it.

What Is a Pinterest Pin Generator?

A Pinterest pin generator is a tool that makes a pin for you: the tall image, and often the title and description that go with it. Pinterest calls a pin with one still picture a standard pin, so a Pinterest standard pin generator is the same tool with the format named.

The tools differ in where the pin comes from. A template editor hands you a 2:3 canvas and layouts to fill in. A prompt tool draws a picture from a sentence, or pulls images from a blog post or a product page. Spreadcast takes neither a canvas nor a prompt: it reads your App Store listing, and a new version, review or milestone there becomes the image, the title, the description and the published pin.

A Pinterest pin title and description generator, which many people search for by that name, covers the words only. For an app those words do most of the search work, so the section on Pinterest SEO further down is longer than anything here about design.

What Is a Pinterest Pin, and What Happens When You Create One?

A pin is one idea saved on Pinterest: an image or a video with a title, a description and, if you add one, a link. Every pin you create sits on one of your boards, and a public board shows its pins on your profile.

Creating one takes three steps on the web, per Pinterest's guide to creating a pin. You upload the file, fill in the details and click Publish. You can pick up to 10 files at once on the web, and each image becomes its own pin, while the app stitches several files into one video pin. Business accounts can choose a later date, up to 30 days ahead. Unpublished drafts expire 30 days after you first save them, and desktop holds up to 50 of them.

What happens next is search. The pin can turn up for people who search or browse for its topic, and the four signals in the section on Pinterest search below decide how often. A video pin needs a little processing first: Pinterest's developer guide to boards and pins says it normally takes a few seconds after creation.

To make a Pinterest pin private, save it to a private board. Privacy is set per board, and Pinterest's page on private boards says only you and the people you invite can see one. The same page says private boards and their pins cannot be promoted through Pinterest ads, so an app pin you want people to find belongs on a public board.

How It Works, From App Store Link to Published Pin

  1. Step 1

    Paste Your App Store Link

Open the start page and paste the link. Spreadcast reads the public listing and builds your brand kit from the icon and screenshots. There is no SDK and no access to your developer account. App Store only today.

  2. Step 2

    Connect Your Pinterest Account

You sign in on Pinterest and approve access, so Spreadcast never has your password. A Pinterest business account is free and adds analytics for your pins, and you can convert a personal account and switch back later, per Pinterest's page on business accounts.

  3. Step 3

    Choose a Board

Every pin lives on a board. Pick one of yours, or let Spreadcast use the first board on the account. If the account has no boards, it creates one.

  4. Step 4

A New Version, Review or Milestone Shows Up

Spreadcast designs the image and writes a title of up to 100 characters and a description. The pin also has a link field, which is where your App Store link goes.

  5. Step 5

Approve the Pin, or Leave It on Autopilot

Approve first holds every pin for one tap. Full autopilot publishes without you, except for a pin that quotes a reviewer, which always waits.

  6. Step 6

The Pin Publishes in the Next Free Slot

It goes out within minutes of its slot, and you can drag it to another day on the calendar. The social media content calendar page shows how the week is laid out.

Pinterest Pin Size and Limits in October 2026

Pinterest lists these numbers under standard image pins, its name for a pin with one static picture. It says such a pin can run as an ad or collect organic impressions, so one set of specs covers both.

Pinterest Pin Size and Limits in October 2026
SpecWhat Pinterest saysWhat it means for an app pin
Pinterest pin size2:3 is recommended, at 1000 by 1500 pixels, per Pinterest's specs for standard image pinsThe tall shape takes the most room in a phone feed.
Pinterest pin size in inchesPinterest gives sizes in pixels only, so a pin has no fixed size in inches on a screenFor a printed mockup at 300 pixels per inch, 1000 by 1500 pixels comes to about 3.3 by 5 inches, and 1080 by 1350 to 3.6 by 4.5 inches.
Taller pinsPins with an aspect ratio greater than 2:3 might get cut off in people's feeds, on the same pageA Spreadcast pin is 1080 by 1350, a 4:5 shape that is a little shorter than 2:3. Nothing is cut off. It takes slightly less height in the feed than a 2:3 pin would.

Pinterest Pin Formats in 2026 and What Each One Needs

The first three rows come from Pinterest's specs page, which says each can run as an ad or collect organic impressions. The first is the one Spreadcast designs and publishes.

Pinterest Video Pin Size, Length and File Specs

People search for the video numbers separately, because they differ from the image ones. Each spec below comes from Pinterest's specs page, where Pinterest lists them under standard width video and says they apply to organic video pins as well as ads.

Does Pinterest Have a Pin Limit?

Yes, per account. Pinterest's developer guide to boards and pins sets volume limits of up to 200,000 pins, counting secret pins and, for personal accounts, your pins on group boards, and up to 2,000 boards of any type, including group boards you did not create. Pinterest says the limits exist to keep the service running smoothly.

On a Pinterest pin limit per day, the Pinterest help pages we read give no number for people. The limits that do exist sit on tools and on scheduling. Pinterest's own scheduler holds 10 future pins at a time. Apps that create pins through the API fall under the write category in Pinterest's rate limits, which allows 100 requests a minute per user per app on standard access and 300 a day per app on trial access.

For an app account none of these numbers is close. At one pin per update, review, milestone and quiet week, a year comes to a few dozen pins, which is about 0.03 percent of the 200,000 ceiling. The limit that matters in practice is quality: Pinterest's community guidelines act against repetitive content, as the section on link rules below explains.

Pins Spreadcast Makes for Your App, With Example Titles and Descriptions

The examples are for an imaginary plant care app called Sprout Log. A pin has a title and a description where other networks have a caption, and both are written to be found in search.

  • App Update Pin

Image: the version number, a New Update tag, two or three points and a screenshot. Example title: "Plant watering reminder app: Sprout Log 2.3 adds light tracking". Example description: "Sprout Log is a plant care app for iPhone. Version 2.3 adds reminders based on how much light each room gets, a repotting log and a widget for today's watering. Download it on the App Store."

  • Rating Pin

Image: your current rating as one large number, with the stars and the count of ratings. It quotes nobody, so it can publish by itself. Example title: "Plant care app rated 4.8 on the App Store". Example description: "Sprout Log keeps a watering and repotting schedule for every plant in your home. Rated 4.8 from 2,900 ratings on the App Store."

  • 5 Star Review Pin

Image: a reviewer's sentence in large type with five stars. It waits for your approval, because Apple's ratings and reviews page allows reviews in marketing only with the reviewer's permission. Example title: "What plant owners say about the Sprout Log watering app". The testimonial graphic generator page covers this kind of image.

  • Rating Milestone Pin

Image: the milestone as a headline, such as 1,000 ratings or a 4.8 average. Example title: "1,000 ratings for Sprout Log, the houseplant care app". Example description: "Thank you to every plant owner who rated Sprout Log. Track watering, light and repotting for all your houseplants in one app."

  • Feature Pin for a Quiet Week

Image: one screenshot from your listing with a short headline. Example title: "How to remember to water houseplants: a reminder for each plant". Example description: "Sprout Log sets a schedule for every plant based on its type and the season, then reminds you on the right day. A plant care app for iPhone, on the App Store."

Example Pin Titles for Six Kinds of Apps

The apps and names are invented to show one pattern: the phrase a person would search comes first, the app name second, and everything fits in 100 characters with the search phrase inside the first 40.

Example Pin Titles for Six Kinds of Apps
AppWeak titleTitle written for search
Meal plannerFork Week 3.1 is hereWeekly meal plan for two with a shopping list: Fork Week 3.1
Budgeting appBig update!Monthly budget template for couples, new in Coinleaf
Workout appNew in 5.020 minute home workout plan, no equipment: Stride Lab 5.0
Trip plannerWe hit 4.8 starsTrip itinerary planner app rated 4.8 on the App Store
Habit trackerVersion 2.0Morning routine checklist and habit tracker: Loopwell 2.0
Wedding plannerThank you for 1,000 ratingsWedding planning checklist app with 1,000 ratings: Aisle Notes

Spreadcast writes titles in this pattern from your release notes, and you can edit any of them before the pin goes out.

How to Promote an App on Pinterest

Pinterest describes itself as a visual search and discovery platform, and reports 640 million monthly active users and 1.5 billion pins saved every week on its company page. The word to notice is search. People arrive with a need, such as a meal plan for two or ideas for a small balcony garden, and pins are the results they get.

The company also says that 96 percent of its top searches are unbranded and that Gen Z makes up half of its global users, on its audience page for advertisers. Unbranded search is good news for an app nobody has heard of. The searcher wants a way to do something and has no name in mind yet.

In the United States, 36 percent of adults said they used Pinterest in 2024, the latest year with a Pinterest figure in Pew Research Center's social media fact sheet. The audience leans strongly toward women: 50 percent of women used it against 19 percent of men in Pew's 2023 survey of social media use.

On format, be realistic. Buffer's 2026 analysis of over 45 million posts found a median engagement rate of 5.75 percent for video pins and 3.15 percent for image pins. Spreadcast designs image pins, and it can also publish a video pin you upload. The designed pins cost you no time, and they will not match a good video pin.

Write for the search box. Pinterest's specs page says titles appear in the home and search feeds, while descriptions stay hidden there and are used to decide who sees the pin. So the title carries the phrase a person would type, and the description explains the app in plain sentences. Pinterest's creative best practices add two points that app pins meet easily: keep the logo or brand name visible, and put the product itself in the picture.

The longer version, with board setup and what to pin between releases, is in Pinterest for app founders. For the other networks, see how to promote an app on social media.

How Pinterest Search Decides Which Pins to Show

Pinterest tells creators it is a visual search engine. Pinterest's guide to discoverability names four things its systems look at. Relevance comes from a descriptive title, keywords and clear details in the description, and an image that reflects the content. Uniqueness favors original images that are new to Pinterest. Content quality covers sharp visuals and links that work. Engagement is saves, clicks, comments and shares.

Saves carry particular weight. Pinterest's advice on building an audience says a save signals that a pin is useful, so its systems may show the pin to more people. The same page says to add fresh content every week and to care about the content more than the count of pins, which suits an account that pins once per real event.

Pins also last. Tailwind, which sells a Pinterest scheduler, studied over 1.2 million pins from more than 17,000 accounts for its 2025 Pinterest benchmark report, published in November 2024. Over 60 percent of saves on pins that link to a website went to pins more than a year old. The study is sobering about new pins: the top 1 percent took over half of all impressions and clicks, and the bottom 80 percent shared under 10 percent. Expect most pins to do little and a few to keep working for years.

Pinterest SEO for an App: Where the Keywords Go

Pinterest's creator guide to SEO says to write naturally first and then add keywords that truly fit, in titles, descriptions and alt text. Its audience advice adds boards and topic tags. The examples continue with Sprout Log.

Pinterest SEO for an App: Where the Keywords Go
PlaceWhat Pinterest saysExample for Sprout Log
Pin titleShown in the home and search feeds. The first 40 characters are the ones most likely to appearPlant watering schedule app for houseplants, then the app name
Pin descriptionHidden in feeds and used to judge relevance. Pinterest says to fill it in every timeTwo sentences on what the app does, for whom and on which device
Board nameBoards can turn up in search results, so each needs a proper titleHouseplant Care Tips, in place of Sprout Log Updates
Board descriptionClear, descriptive language about what the board holdsWatering schedules, light guides and repotting reminders for indoor plants
Topic tagsAdd topics whenever the option appears, because they help a pin show for more kinds of peopleHouseplants, indoor gardening, plant care
Text on the imageThe key message at the top and extra detail at the bottom, readable on a phone, per Pinterest's creative best practicesSpreadcast typesets the headline and the points for you

To find the phrases, use the Pinterest Trends tool, which shows up to two years of search, save and shopping trends by region, per Pinterest's page on the Trends tool. Do not pad a title with loose terms: Pinterest's community guidelines list stuffing irrelevant keywords among the tactics it acts against.

Where the App Store Link Goes on a Pin, and Pinterest's Link Rules

Each pin has its own Link field. On Instagram the link lives in your profile. On Pinterest the tap on a pin can lead straight to your App Store page.

Pinterest's community guidelines, last updated in May 2026, ask for what they call a "no surprises" principle: a person should be able to anticipate where a link will lead. Links with excessive or deceptive redirection, and shortener services that are abused for spam, may be blocked. A direct App Store address meets the principle. A chain of tracking redirects may not.

Two more lines in the same guidelines matter for an app account. Do not create repetitive content in an attempt to make money, and do not redirect existing pins to new destinations. One pin per real event is safer than thirty near copies of one image, and a pin's link should stay what it was on the day you published it.

The guidelines also forbid automation that Pinterest has not approved. Spreadcast publishes through Pinterest's developer interface after you sign in on Pinterest and grant access. Pinterest has announced an updated version of these guidelines that takes effect on November 12, 2026, so read them again after that date.

Tools that publish for you have their own rulebook. Pinterest's developer guidelines accept pin schedulers and apps that automate the creation of content, and add a condition: when an app lets a person schedule pins, the person must choose each pin to be published. Approve first is the mode that fits that sentence most plainly, because you see and choose every pin with one tap. We suggest it for Pinterest.

Five Ways to Make Pinterest Pins for an App, Compared

We make Spreadcast and list it first: no other row designs, writes and publishes the pin for you. Each of the rest has a real use. Prices as of October 2026.

Spreadcast vs an AI Pinterest Pin Generator or a Chat Assistant

An AI Pinterest pin generator draws a pin from a prompt, and a chat assistant writes titles and descriptions. Both are fine for a blog. You can also connect your assistant to Spreadcast through its MCP server, so Claude or ChatGPT can design pins in your app's brand, write the descriptions and schedule them there, drafts only by default. For an app, the differences are these.

How to Schedule Pins on Pinterest, and How Many You Can Schedule

Pinterest has its own scheduler for business accounts. These steps and limits come from Pinterest's page on scheduling pins, checked on October 17, 2026.

  1. Step 1

    Use a Business Account

Scheduling is a business account feature. Converting is free, as the step on connecting Pinterest above explains.

  2. Step 2

On Desktop: Create Pin, Then Publish at a Later Date

Open Create Pin from the menu, pick the image or video, fill in the details, then choose Publish at a later date and set the day and time. Picking several images at once makes a separate pin for each.

  3. Step 3

In the App: The Plus Icon, Then Pin

Choose your files, tap Next, fill in the details and set the date and time. Several files picked together become one video pin.

  4. Step 4

    Know the Two Limits

You can schedule a pin up to 30 days ahead, and hold up to 10 scheduled pins at a time, created one at a time. A month of two pins a week fits. A quarter planned in one sitting does not.

  5. Step 5

How to See Scheduled Pins on Pinterest

They sit on your profile above your published pins and can take a few minutes to show up. You can change the date, title, board, description and link, but not the image or video. To remove one, open the ellipsis menu on the pin and choose Delete.

  6. Step 6

Or Let Spreadcast Hold the Queue

Pins waiting in Spreadcast stay on Spreadcast's calendar and are sent to Pinterest at their slot, so they do not take places in Pinterest's queue of 10. You see each one before it goes out in approve first mode.

Your First Week: From App Store Link to the First Published Pin

  1. Step 1

Before You Start: Name a Board for Search

On Pinterest, make sure the first board on the account is named for what your app helps people do, such as Houseplant Care Tips, and give it a one line description. A board called My App is invisible to someone searching for plant care.

  2. Step 2

Day 1: Paste the Link and Look at the Colors

After Spreadcast reads your listing, open the brand kit. If your background is pure white or pure black, remember the faint tint Pinterest lays over such pins. The brand kit generator page shows what the kit holds.

  3. Step 3

Day 1: Connect Pinterest on Approve First

Convert to a free business account first if you want analytics, then sign in and grant access. Approve first lets you choose each pin, which is what Pinterest's developer guidelines ask of scheduling tools.

  4. Step 4

Day 2: Publish One Pin by Hand

Use New Post to make a single pin about your strongest feature. Rewrite the title so the search phrase leads, check that the link field holds your direct App Store address, and approve it. On Free, download the image and create the pin on Pinterest yourself.

  5. Step 5

Days 3 to 6: Wait for a Draft

A new version, a 5 star review or a rating milestone turns into a draft pin. If none of them happens, a feature pin is drafted for the quiet week. Read the title and description, then tap once.

  6. Step 6

Day 7 and After: Read Pinterest Analytics

Pinterest's analytics page defines impressions as the times a pin was on screen, saves as the times people saved it to a board, pin clicks as taps that open it up close, and outbound clicks as actions that lead off Pinterest. Outbound clicks are the visits to your App Store page. Judge by the month, since pins are slow.

Common Mistakes With App Pins on Pinterest

  • Pins Taller Than 2:3

A full iPhone screenshot is much taller than 2:3, the point past which Pinterest says pins might get cut off in feeds. Set the screenshot inside a shorter canvas under a headline.

  • Leading the Title With the App Name

With 96 percent of top searches unbranded by Pinterest's own count, almost nobody is typing your name. Open with the task, then name the app.

  • Leaving the Description Empty

Nobody sees it in the feed, so it is tempting to skip. Pinterest uses it to decide who the pin is relevant to, and recommends filling in every field.

  • Pinning One Image Thirty Times

Pinterest's systems favor images that are new to the platform, and its community guidelines act against repetitive content. One pin per real event is the safer rhythm.

  • Judging a Pin After One Week

In Tailwind's data most saves went to pins more than a year old. A pin that looks dead in week one can still be found next spring.

  • Trying to Claim the App Store Page

Claiming needs a domain you own and can edit, per Pinterest's page on claiming a website, so an App Store page cannot be claimed. Claim your app's own website if it has one.

A Pinterest Standard Pin Generator: What Stays With You

Standard is Pinterest's word for a pin with a single static image. Spreadcast designs and publishes standard pins. The other formats stay in your hands.

  • Video Pins

Every pin Spreadcast designs is a still image. Video pins, which did better in Buffer's data, are yours to make for your biggest releases, and Spreadcast publishes one you upload, up to 5 minutes with a cover.

  • Carousels and Collections

Spreadcast makes one image per pin. Build Pinterest's multi image formats by hand when a release needs several screens.

  • Product Pins and Catalogs

Spreadcast pins about your app. A shop with a product catalog syncs it through Pinterest's own tools.

  • Ads

Spreadcast pins are organic. Promoted pins run from your own Pinterest Ads Manager account.

  • Pins From a Prompt

Pins come from your listing, so each one shows your real app. For a mood board, a recipe card or a quote, use an image tool, or make a single pin by hand with New Post.

  • Google Play

Spreadcast works from App Store listings today. Google Play is next on the list.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What size is a Pinterest pin in 2026?

Pinterest recommends a 2:3 aspect ratio, or 1000 by 1500 pixels, and warns that taller pins might get cut off in feeds, per its specs for standard image pins as of October 2026. A 4:5 image such as 1080 by 1350 is a little shorter than that and displays in full.

Is there a free Pinterest pin generator for apps?

Yes. Spreadcast's Free plan covers 1 app and designs each pin as an image for you to download, with a small Spreadcast mark, which you upload to Pinterest yourself. Pro is $29 a month flat, with design, captions and publishing to 8 networks included, and no mark. Plans are on the pricing page.

Can a Pinterest pin link to the App Store?

Yes. A pin has a Link field, and a direct App Store address fits Pinterest's rule that people should be able to anticipate where a link leads. Avoid link shorteners and redirect chains, which Pinterest's community guidelines say may be blocked.

Is this an AI Pinterest pin generator?

AI writes the title, the description and the points on the image. The picture itself is a designed layout with your real screenshots, with no AI generated artwork.

Do I need a Pinterest business account?

A business account is free and gives you analytics for your pins and the option to run ads, according to Pinterest's page on business accounts. You can convert a personal account and switch back at any time.

Does Pinterest work for promoting every kind of app?

No. It suits apps tied to things people plan and save ideas for, such as food, home, style, fitness, travel, gardening and money. For work tools and developer tools, LinkedIn is the better first network, and the Facebook post generator page covers the broadest audience.

Does Spreadcast make video pins or carousels?

Spreadcast designs and publishes standard image pins, one per update, review, milestone or quiet week. It also publishes a video pin you upload, up to 5 minutes with a cover image. Making the video, and carousels, stay with you.

How do I promote my app on Pinterest for free?

Create a board named for what your app helps with, pin one image per release with a title that matches a real search, and set each pin's link to your App Store page. How to promote an app for free covers the channels beyond Pinterest.
