What Blotato Is, and Who This List of Blotato Alternatives Is For
Blotato is a web app and a posting API in one. You give it a topic or a source, it writes posts with an AI model and visual templates, and it publishes them to nine networks: X, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Threads, Bluesky and Pinterest, per Blotato's home page. The same actions are open to software through a REST API, official n8n and Make nodes, and a hosted MCP server that Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and Codex can call. The founder, Sabrina Ramonov, built it for her own creator business, and the product leans hard into that: faceless video, viral templates, a coach, and DM automations that send a link when someone comments a keyword.
As of October 19, 2026, Blotato's pricing page lists three plans from $29 a month, a 7 day free trial on each, and no free plan. The trial opens every feature except one: the API. Because the MCP server runs on the API, an agent setup cannot be tested for free, and generating an API key during the trial ends it and starts billing on the spot.
People search for Blotato alternatives for a handful of reasons, and they are different enough that no single tool answers all of them. Some want a free tier or a cheaper way to post through an API. Some want open source code they can host. Some want a cleaner MCP connection, a team login, or analytics on LinkedIn. Some want video repurposing without the AI writing on top. And some want a tool that makes the post from something real instead of from a prompt.
This page covers all of them. We make Spreadcast. It is first because it is the only tool here that designs the post from your App Store listing and publishes it for you; the other nine are ranked by how well each answers one of the reasons above. Every price, limit and feature below was read on the vendor's own pricing page, help center or docs on October 19, 2026, and each one is linked where it is used. If you came for MCP servers in general rather than Blotato, our roundup of social media MCP servers goes deeper on that one question.
Key Takeaways
Blotato Starts at $29 With No Free Plan
Starter is $29 a month for 20 social accounts and 1,250 AI credits, Creator $97, Agency $499. Yearly billing charges 10 months for 12. The 7 day trial includes every feature except the API and MCP.
Spreadcast Leads for App Makers
Spreadcast designs each post from your App Store listing, writes a caption for each network and publishes it for you. Free drafts your posts; Pro is $29 a month and includes design, captions and publishing to every network.
Postiz Is the Open Source Pick
Postiz is AGPL 3.0 code you can self host, or a hosted plan from $29 a month. Every hosted plan includes its MCP server, CLI, public API and webhooks.
Zernio and Upload Post Are the Cheap API Picks
Zernio charges nothing for the first 2 accounts and $6 each for accounts 3 to 10. Upload Post has a free tier of 10 uploads a month and an MCP server with 50 tools.
Buffer and Metricool Are the Free MCP Picks
Buffer's free plan includes API access and its MCP server, with 3 channels. Metricool's MCP works on its free plan too, for 1 brand and 20 scheduled posts a month.
Repurpose.io Is the Video Pick
If you mostly move finished videos between TikTok, Reels and Shorts, Repurpose.io does that from $35 a month without any AI writing, with a 14 day trial.

Blotato Pricing in 2026: Plans, Credits and Limits
Blotato has three paid plans and a 7 day trial. Prices are from Blotato's pricing page and the limits from Blotato's billing and credits article, both read on October 19, 2026.
| Plan | Billed monthly | Billed yearly | Social accounts | AI credits a month | Contacts reached by DM or reply a month | Posts queued at once |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $29 a month | $290 a year (10 months charged for 12) | 20 | 1,250 | 1,000 | 200 |
| Creator | $97 a month | $970 a year | 40 | 5,000 | 6,000 | 1,000 |
| Agency | $499 a month | $4,990 a year | 100 | 28,000 | 15,000 | 3,000 |
| 7 day free trial | $0, card charged when it ends | Not offered | Same as the plan you chose | 60 trial credits | Same as the plan you chose | Same as the plan you chose |
| Extra credits | $6 for 1,000 credits | Credits roll over each month | Not changed | Added to your balance | Not changed | Not changed |
Blotato says yearly billing saves about 17% because you pay for 10 months and get 12, and you switch to it in the billing portal, since the pricing page sells monthly plans only. Credits pay for AI images and video; writing, scheduling, publishing and API calls use none. Uploads go up to 400 MB on Starter and 1 GB on the other plans, and posts can be scheduled up to 9 months ahead.
Is Blotato Free? The 7 Day Trial, the API Catch and Refunds
Blotato is not free. There is no free plan, only a 7 day trial on any plan, and Blotato emails you before the trial ends. Blotato's billing article says the trial includes all features except the API, with a limited 60 credits for AI images and video, and the card on file is charged for the plan you picked if you do not cancel. The article gives the reason plainly: the API is held back to prevent spam and abuse.
The catch for anyone who came for the agent features is this. API and MCP access are not in the trial, per Blotato's MCP setup guide, so you cannot try Claude or ChatGPT with Blotato before you pay. And if you open Settings, then API, and generate a key during the trial, the trial ends at that moment and your paid subscription begins, even with days left. Blotato shows a warning before it issues the key. If you only want to test n8n or Make, the article says to stay in the web app until you are ready to subscribe.
Refunds are case by case. The pricing page asks you to email support within 14 days if something genuinely does not work, and the billing article sends refund requests through the in app support chat, with approved refunds back on your card in 5 to 10 business days. There is no discount code running today: Blotato's current promo page says the last one expired on September 1, 2026, and points to a free bundle of Claude skills instead.
So the honest entry price is $29 a month, or $290 a year if you switch to yearly billing in the portal ($29 times 10). If you need more than 20 social accounts, the next step is Creator at $97, which is $68 more a month ($97 minus $29). There is no plan between them.
Blotato Review in Brief: What It Does Well and Where It Stops
Searches for a Blotato review and for whether Blotato is worth it deserve a straight answer before a list of replacements. This page does not repeat star ratings or testimonials. Everything here comes from Blotato's own pages, read on October 19, 2026.
What it does well is breadth for one flat price. A single plan covers writing, AI images and video, ElevenLabs voiceovers, a calendar, a viral post library for inspiration, publishing to nine networks, and the API with n8n and Make nodes. Blotato's guide to sources lists what it can turn into a draft: pasted text, an article, a YouTube or TikTok video with English captions, a Perplexity research query, an audio file, a PDF or a rule for the AI to follow. The first comment article adds a first comment on Instagram and Facebook posts on every paid plan, and the inbox handles comments and DMs for Instagram accounts and Facebook Pages.
Where it stops is also on its own pages. Blotato's team access article says it supports one user per account; a teammate signs in with your email and the code sent to it, so there are no separate logins, roles or audit trail. The inbox article says LinkedIn comments and messages are not supported, older posts and messages are not imported, and comments and messages are kept for up to 45 days. The analytics article leaves LinkedIn out of analytics, and Starter refreshes each post's numbers 4 times over 30 days, against 18 on Creator.
Blotato's home page also says who it is not for: long form video clipping, UGC ad farms and people who want to post low effort AI content. That is a useful filter. It is worth it for a solo creator or an automation builder who posts the same idea to many networks and wants the AI, the visuals and the API under one bill. It is a weaker fit for a team that needs separate logins, for anyone who wants to test the API before paying, for LinkedIn analytics, and for a product whose posts should come from real facts rather than from a topic typed into a prompt.
Blotato API and MCP Server: What You Get on Each Plan
All three paid plans include full API access; the trial is the only state without it. Blotato's access and authentication page gives the REST base at backend.blotato.com/v2 with an API key, and an MCP server at mcp.blotato.com/mcp over Streamable HTTP that accepts OAuth in the browser, an API key header or a bearer token. The setup guide covers Claude on the web, Claude Desktop and Cowork, Claude Code, Codex, ChatGPT through developer mode, Cursor and VS Code.
Blotato's MCP tools reference listed 35 tools on October 24, 2026: accounts, credits, publishing, analytics, comments, messages, DM automations, content extraction from a source, visuals, a content calendar of weekly schedules, and media uploads. One call to create a post can target any of the nine networks, and a post can go out now, at a set time or in the next free slot. The platform table shows what each network needs: a Page for Facebook, a board for Pinterest, a title and privacy setting for YouTube, and so on.
Two limits matter for automation. Blotato's rate limits allow 30 create post requests a minute and 60 reads a minute on most list routes, and they note that MCP tools call the same REST routes, so polling from an agent counts too. And the Starter plan has a TikTok restriction: it counts 3 distinct TikTok accounts posted to in a rolling 24 hour window. Replies and DMs sent through the API also count toward the monthly contact limit in the pricing table.
If your reason for leaving is the API or the MCP server itself, the table further down compares those surfaces across every tool here. For the security side of letting an assistant post for you, and how OAuth compares with a pasted key, read our social media MCP server guide, which this page does not repeat.
Video: Connecting Claude to Blotato With MCP
Blotato's founder connects Claude to Blotato as an MCP server, the setup most people searching for a Blotato API alternative are trying to match.
Why People Look for a Blotato Alternative
None of these is a flaw in Blotato. Each is a choice Blotato made, stated on its own pages, that does not fit every person.
No Free Plan and No Free API
The trial lasts 7 days and leaves out the API and MCP. Buffer's free plan includes API access with 3,000 requests a month, Zernio's first 2 accounts are free, and Upload Post has a free tier. Each lets you test an agent before you pay.
A Key Made in the Trial Starts Billing
Generating an API key during the trial ends it and charges the card. That surprises people who wanted to wire up n8n or Claude on day one. Postiz, Ocoya and Repurpose.io also run trials, but the pages we read tie none of them to generating a key.
One Login per Account
Blotato has one user per account, and sharing means sharing your email code. Buffer Team gives unlimited users with approvals, Postiz has unlimited team members from Team at $39, and Ocoya Team includes 5 users.
No LinkedIn Analytics or Inbox
Blotato reads metrics on eight networks, not LinkedIn, and its inbox covers Instagram and Facebook only. Buffer lists analytics and comment replies for LinkedIn pages and profiles, and Ayrshare includes comment moderation on every plan.
A Jump From $29 to $97
Starter stops at 20 accounts. The 21st account means Creator at $97 a month. Per account tools such as Zernio and Buffer grow a few dollars at a time instead of in one step.
The AI Writes From a Prompt
Blotato's AI turns a topic or a source into posts in a viral style. If your posts should be about real events, such as a new app version or a rating milestone, a prompt is the wrong starting point. Spreadcast starts from your App Store listing.
Credits for Every Image and Video
AI images and video spend credits, 1,250 a month on Starter. Teams that bring finished video, or that design posts elsewhere, pay for credits they do not use. Repurpose.io and Upload Post move finished files without AI credits.
No Open Source Version
Blotato is a hosted product. If you want to read the code, run it on your own server or keep data in house, Postiz publishes its full source under AGPL 3.0.
How We Picked These Blotato Alternatives
We started from what Blotato is: an AI writer, a publisher for nine networks, a REST API and an MCP server, sold for one flat price. A tool made the list if it matches Blotato on at least one of those jobs and its facts could be confirmed on its own site today. Tools we could not verify on a pricing page, help center or docs page were left out, which is why some names from forum threads are missing.
Each candidate was checked on six things: the entry price and what it includes, whether there is a free plan or a free API tier, whether a public API exists and on which plans, whether there is a hosted MCP server and how it signs in (OAuth or a pasted key), whether the AI makes the content or only helps, and which networks it publishes to. We also looked for the limits that shape a real bill, such as accounts per plan, per account pricing tiers and request caps.
Spreadcast, which we make, is ranked first for the reason given above, and we say where it does not fit. The other nine are ordered by how many Blotato users they would serve: the open source and general schedulers with APIs first, then the developer APIs, then the narrower picks for analytics, AI design and video. A higher rank is not a better product for everyone; the picks by need further down say who should use what.
Facts were read on October 19, 2026. Prices are in US dollars, billed monthly unless a row says otherwise, and exclude tax. Vendors change plans often, so check the linked page before you buy.

The 10 Best Blotato Alternatives, With Prices, Pros and Cons
Spreadcast is ours and comes first, because it is the only tool here that designs the post from your App Store listing and publishes it for you. The nine after it are ranked by how directly they answer a reason for leaving Blotato.
- 1
Spreadcast
Free drafts your posts; Pro is $29 a month and includes design, captions and publishing to every networkBest for app makers: it designs posts from your App Store listing and publishes them for you
Spreadcast is ours, and it starts from a different place than Blotato. Blotato writes from a topic you bring. Spreadcast reads your App Store listing every day, after you paste the link once at the start page, and turns real events into posts. A new version becomes an update post: your own screenshot in an iPhone frame, a headline and two or three points from the release notes, written in the language of the release notes. A rating milestone becomes a thank you post. Each one is designed with your icon, screenshots and colors, plus the logo and fonts from your website.
On Pro, Spreadcast publishes to Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook, Threads, Pinterest, Bluesky, Mastodon, Telegram and Discord, plus YouTube for video posts, with a caption written for each network. Instagram carousels go out as real carousels, and LinkedIn posts go to your personal profile. Every post waits for one tap of approval by default, or you can switch on full autopilot, which schedules posts for nine in the morning in your time zone. The calendar drops each post into the next free slot, and you drag it to move it. Review quote posts from a real 5 star review, carousels of 3 to 8 slides, and text or picture posts are made on demand in Create, and you can upload your own pictures and video.
For the agent crowd, Spreadcast has its own MCP server. Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code and Cursor can design posts and carousels in your brand, write captions for each network and save them, as drafts by default, so nothing goes out until you approve it. In ChatGPT, write actions need a Business, Enterprise or Edu workspace. Analytics show interactions, new followers and taps on your App Store link, which networks, kinds of post and days work best, and your best day and time.
Compare the $29 plans honestly. Blotato Starter gives 20 social accounts, unlimited AI writing and 1,250 credits for AI visuals, aimed at any topic. Spreadcast Pro gives 1 app and 10 social accounts with every post designed from your listing, captioned and published for you, plus Claude and ChatGPT access. Studio is $79 a month for 5 apps, each with its own brand and accounts, 50 social accounts and 3 seats. The free plan makes 3 posts for 1 app to download, with a small Spreadcast mark. Every paid plan has a full refund within 7 days.
Pros
- Designs each post from your listing, screenshots and brand
- New versions and rating milestones become posts by themselves
- Publishes to 8 networks with a caption for each
- One tap approval by default, or full autopilot
- MCP server for Claude and ChatGPT that saves drafts by default
- Pro includes design, captions and publishing for $29 a month
Cons
- Built for apps on the Apple App Store
- No video editing; upload finished video instead
- 2
Postiz
Free to self host; cloud from $29 a monthBest open source Blotato alternative, with MCP, API and a CLI on every plan
Postiz is the closest match to Blotato's agent pitch, with one big difference: the code is open. The Postiz repository on GitHub is licensed under AGPL 3.0 and had more than 37,000 stars on October 19, 2026, so you can read it, fork it and run it on your own server for the cost of the server. The hosted version is where new agent features ship first, and the Postiz pricing page says every cloud plan includes the hosted MCP server, the Postiz CLI, the public API and webhooks, with no separate agent tier.
Cloud pricing is Standard at $29 a month for 5 channels with no team members, Team at $39 for 10 channels, Pro at $49 for 30 and Ultimate at $99 for 100, or $23, $31, $39 and $79 a month billed yearly. Each plan has a 7 day free trial, unlimited posts, an AI copilot, AI video clipping minutes, repeated posts, RSS auto posting, scheduled comments and customer groups for clients. The network list is the longest here, from Instagram, TikTok and LinkedIn to Reddit, Discord, Telegram, Mastodon and WordPress. Refunds cover up to one month of fees if your last charge was in the past 120 days; yearly plans are not refundable.
The Postiz MCP introduction lists 13 tools: listing accounts and groups, reading each network's posting rules, scheduling, drafting or publishing a post, editing a scheduled post, generating images and videos, and clipping a long YouTube video into captioned vertical clips. It signs in with an API key, in the URL or as a bearer token, or with an OAuth token if you build an app for other Postiz users. The Postiz public API docs cap the create post endpoint at 100 requests an hour on the cloud and 90 by default when self hosted, adjustable on your own server.
Compared with Blotato, you give up the viral templates and the DM automations and gain open code, team members from $39, more networks and an MCP server you can test on the trial. Our Postiz alternatives roundup covers who should look past it.
Pros
- Open source under AGPL 3.0, free to self host
- MCP, CLI, API and webhooks on every cloud plan
- Unlimited team members from $39 a month
- The widest network list on this page
Cons
- Standard at $29 has 5 channels and no team members
- Self hosting means your own network app approvals
- No Instagram or Facebook DM automations like Blotato's
- 3
Buffer
Free for 3 channels, then $6 per channel a monthBest free Blotato alternative with an API and MCP server
Buffer answers the first complaint about Blotato, that you cannot try the API for free. Buffer's pricing file lists API access on the Free plan, with 1 API key and 3,000 requests a month, next to 3 channels, 10 scheduled posts per channel at a time, the AI Assistant and comment replies. Essentials gives 3 keys and 7,500 requests a month, and Team gives 5 keys and 15,000.
Paid plans are priced per channel and get cheaper with volume. Essentials is $6 a channel for channels 1 to 10, then $4, $3 and $1 as you add more, and Team, which adds unlimited users, access levels and approval workflows, is $12 a channel for the first 10. Yearly billing takes about 2 months off. There is a 14 day trial of the paid plans, and nonprofits get 50% off. Buffer lists analytics and comment engagement for LinkedIn pages and profiles, which Blotato does not offer.
Buffer's MCP guide runs a remote server at mcp.buffer.com/mcp with your API key as a bearer token. Its tools read channels, list and edit posts, create a post on Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Pinterest, YouTube, Google Business, Mastodon, TikTok, Threads, Bluesky or the Start Page, save drafts, manage ideas and add up post metrics over a date range. Tools that change data are marked so most clients ask before running them. On Claude, Buffer's Claude guide connects through the connector list with OAuth and no API key. Our Buffer MCP server review covers it tool by tool.
Against Blotato, Buffer has no AI image or video generation, no viral templates and no DM automations. It is a scheduler with a good API, and its free plan is the cheapest way on this page to put an agent in front of your channels.
Pros
- API access on the free plan
- MCP by API key, or OAuth in Claude
- Unlimited users and approvals on Team
- LinkedIn analytics and comment replies
Cons
- Per channel pricing adds up past a few channels
- No AI images, video or templates
- Free plan holds 10 scheduled posts per channel
- 4
Zernio
First 2 accounts free, then $6 per account a monthBest Blotato API alternative for developers who pay per account
Zernio is a social media API that used to be called Late, which is why "Late vs Blotato" shows up in searches. Zernio's rebrand page says the old getlate.dev domain redirects to zernio.com and existing API keys keep working. It sells no plans: Zernio's pricing page charges nothing for the first 2 connected accounts, $6 a month each for accounts 3 to 10, $3 each for 11 to 100 and $1 each past 100, with every feature on every account.
Those features go beyond posting: analytics, reading and sending DMs (the first 10,000 sent a month are free), comment replies and reviews, ads, webhooks, and a blogs API for WordPress and Shopify. X is the exception on price: Zernio passes X's own API costs through at X's rates. There are no seats and no sales call below 2,000 accounts.
Zernio's MCP overview gives a hosted server at mcp.zernio.com/mcp for Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor, Windsurf and VS Code. Clients that support OAuth need only the URL; agents and other clients send an API key, and Zernio suggests one key per agent so each can be revoked alone. A post can be saved as a draft instead of scheduled. Zernio's tool reference lists 20 core tools plus one generated tool per API endpoint, with about 50 visible and the rest behind a search tool.
Zernio does not write or design anything. If Blotato's appeal for you was the API, and you already make content elsewhere, Zernio is cheaper at small sizes: 8 accounts cost $36 a month (6 paid accounts times $6), against $29 for Blotato Starter's 20 accounts, and the gap closes as you grow.
Pros
- First 2 accounts free, no card
- OAuth or a separate API key per agent
- DMs, comments, analytics and ads in one API
- Every API endpoint reachable as an MCP tool
Cons
- Built for developers, not a calendar for a marketer
- No AI writing or design
- X costs passed through on top
- 5
Upload Post
Free for 10 uploads a month, then from $16 a month billed yearlyBest Blotato free alternative for posting through an API
Upload Post is the lowest cost paid API on this page. Upload Post's pricing page lists a Free plan with 10 uploads a month and 2 profiles, Basic at $16 a month billed yearly ($192) with unlimited uploads and 5 profiles, Professional at $33 a month billed yearly ($400) with 25 profiles and a second seat, and Advanced at $118 a month billed yearly ($1,411) with 75 profiles. Yearly billing is listed as 40% off, and there is a 15 day money back guarantee.
Its billing unit is generous for small setups. A profile is one person or client, not one account, and each profile connects one account on every platform, so one profile can cover TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn and the rest at once. The plan card names TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, Facebook, X, Threads, Pinterest, Bluesky and Google Business, plus 12 more. Posting links on X costs $19 a month extra.
The same page describes an MCP server that plugs into Claude, Cursor and other MCP clients with 50 tools to publish, schedule, analyze and manage posts, set up by pasting your API key, plus a Claude Code skill and nodes for n8n and Make. Each plan also includes minutes of a video editing API built on FFmpeg and an AI Shorts Uploader that writes the title, description and hashtags for a short video on YouTube, Instagram and TikTok.
What it does not have is Blotato's AI writer, visual templates or DM automations. People searching for a Blotato free alternative on Reddit are often building an n8n or agent pipeline, and for that use Upload Post is the cheapest place to start.
Pros
- Free tier with 10 uploads a month
- One profile covers one account on every platform
- MCP server with 50 tools
- 15 day money back guarantee
Cons
- MCP signs in with a pasted API key
- Basic is for the owner only, one seat
- Links in X posts cost $19 a month extra
- 6
Ayrshare
From $149 a monthBest for products that post on behalf of many users
Ayrshare is a posting API built for software products. Ayrshare's pricing page bills by social profile, meaning one customer, brand or location, with any number of networks under it. Premium is $149 a month for one profile with up to 14 accounts across 14 networks. Launch is $299 a month with up to 140 accounts, webhooks, expanded rate limits and a 28 day free trial. Business starts at $599 a month for the first 30 profiles, then drops per profile as you grow. Yearly billing saves 17%.
Every profile includes posting and scheduling, analytics, and moderation of comments, DMs and reviews. Ayrshare's MCP tool catalog lists 33 tools across posts, history, analytics, comments, direct messages, profiles, media, generation, webhooks, ads and errors. Ads tools need the Ads add on, which is $100 a month.
Sign in is by API key only. Ayrshare's connection guide says the server needs an Authorization bearer header and publishes no OAuth metadata, so it does not work as a personal connector in claude.ai, Claude Desktop or the Claude mobile apps. Claude Code, Cursor, n8n and any client that sends custom headers work.
Ayrshare costs more than Blotato at every size and does none of the writing or design. It earns its place when you are building software for other people's accounts and need profiles, webhooks and moderation that scale with your customers.
Pros
- Billing per customer profile, not per seat
- Comments, DMs and reviews on every plan
- 33 MCP tools, including ads
- 28 day trial on Launch
Cons
- Starts at $149 a month
- No claude.ai or Claude Desktop connector
- No AI writing or visual templates
- 7
Publer
Free for 3 accounts; Business from $10 a monthBest low cost scheduler with an API and MCP server
Publer is a full scheduler that added an API and an MCP server to its Business plan. Publer's plans and pricing article lists a Free plan for up to 3 social accounts, excluding X, with no end date; Professional from $5 a month for 1 account; and Business from $10 a month for 1 account, with the price rising as you add accounts and members. For every 9 accounts or members the 10th is free, and yearly billing takes 20% off. Professional has a 7 day trial and Business a 14 day one.
The same article is clear that Publer has no public API for everyone. Publer's API article opens the API to Business and Enterprise customers in good standing, with keys scoped to workspaces, accounts, posts, media or analytics. Publer's MCP setup guide puts the server at mcp.publer.com for Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other clients, signed in with OAuth or, for clients without OAuth, with an API key.
Business also brings unlimited AI Assist prompts, advanced analytics with downloadable reports, best times to post, competitor analysis, post recycling and recurring posts, approval workflows, bulk scheduling and RSS automations. Against Blotato you lose the AI images, video and DM automations, and you gain a team calendar, recycling and an API that grows a few dollars at a time. Our Publer alternatives roundup has the full plan breakdown.
Pros
- Free plan for 3 accounts with no end date
- MCP by OAuth or API key on Business

- Free plan cannot post to X
- No AI video or visual templates

Metricool
Free for 1 brand, then from $25 a monthBest for analytics with a free MCP connection
Metricool is the pick if what you miss in Blotato is reporting. Metricool's MCP plan requirements say its MCP server works on every plan, Free included, while the separate Metricool API is limited to Advanced or Custom. Through MCP an assistant can read your brands, query analytics including connected ad accounts, check the best time to post, and create, edit or send posts for review.
Metricool's pricing page lists Free for 1 brand, with all networks except LinkedIn and X and up to 20 scheduled posts a month. Starter is $25 a month for up to 5 brands or $45 for up to 10. Advanced starts at $67 a month for 15 brands and adds customizable report templates and the API for Zapier and Make, rising to $107 for 25 brands and $210 for 50. Billed yearly, Starter starts at $20 and Advanced at $53.
The MCP page is also honest about gaps: inbox messages, post comments, SmartLinks, Google Business reviews, autolists and ad campaign management are not reachable through MCP for now, and Free plan limits still apply after you connect. Our Metricool MCP server review goes through what works in Claude and ChatGPT.
Metricool prices by brand, not by account, so a brand with eight networks costs the same as a brand with two. That makes it cheap for a small business with one or a few brands that wants Claude to read the numbers and plan posts.
Pros
- MCP on the free plan
- Priced per brand, not per account
- Analytics, competitors and ad reporting
- Report templates on Advanced
Cons
- Free plan leaves out LinkedIn and X
- API needs Advanced, from $67 a month
- No inbox or comments through MCP

Ocoya
From $29 a month, after a 7 day trialBest Blotato AI alternative with strict MCP permissions
Ocoya pairs AI drafting with a publisher, like Blotato, and adds the most careful MCP permission model here. Ocoya's pricing page lists Starter at $29 a month for 1 user, 5 social profiles and 300 credits, Team at $79 for 5 users, 20 profiles and 1,500 credits, and Agency at $199 for 20 users, 100 profiles and 5,000 credits. Yearly billing gives 2 months free, so $290, $790 and $1,990 a year. Every plan starts with a 7 day trial that needs a card.
Ocoya's MCP guide says the server uses OAuth only and does not accept Ocoya API keys. During sign in you pick which brands a client may reach, and scopes split reading, writing drafts and publishing: posts:publish is its own grant, so you can let Claude or ChatGPT create and schedule drafts without letting it publish on the spot. Setup guides cover Claude, ChatGPT, Codex and VS Code.
Beyond MCP, Ocoya has a design studio, a social inbox, link in bio pages, visual workflows and a REST API, and it publishes to a long list of networks and sites, including Telegram, Discord, WordPress and Notion. Our Ocoya comparison covers the app itself. AI drafts spend credits, as Blotato's visuals do, so budget for them.
Pros
- OAuth only, with publishing as a separate scope
- You choose the brands a client can reach
- Team plan includes 5 users
- Design studio, inbox and link in bio
Cons
- No free plan, card needed for the trial
- Starter stops at 5 profiles
- AI work spends credits

Repurpose.io
From $35 a month, with 10 free videos to startBest for repurposing video across TikTok, Reels and Shorts
Repurpose.io does one part of Blotato's job, moving video, and does it without AI writing on top. Repurpose.io's quick start guide describes workflows: you pick a source such as TikTok, YouTube or a podcast, pick destinations such as Instagram, YouTube Shorts or Google Drive, and each new video is shared to them within a couple of hours. It can also post your back catalog, cut clips from long videos and back everything up to Google Drive or Dropbox.
Repurpose.io's pricing page lists Starter at $35 a month ($349 a year) for up to 3 accounts on each network and 5,000 published videos a month, Pro at $79 ($790 a year) for up to 10 accounts on each network with unlimited videos, and Agency at $179 ($1,790 a year) for up to 25 on each network. There is a 14 day trial, and you can publish 10 videos free with no card.
It is not only video anymore. Repurpose.io's article on photos and carousels adds photo, carousel and slideshow workflows, such as Instagram carousels to TikTok and Facebook, or TikTok slideshows to Instagram and Facebook. The pricing page and help articles we read describe workflows, not an API or an MCP server, so this is a pick for people, not agents.
Pros
- Set once, every new video is shared
- Clips from long videos and podcasts
- Carousel and slideshow workflows
- 10 free videos before the trial
Cons
- No API or MCP on the pages we read
- No AI writing or design
- Account limits count per network

Checked October 19, 2026. A tool count is what the vendor's reference page listed that day; vendors add tools often. Repurpose.io is left out because the pages we read describe no API or MCP server.
Blotato API Alternatives for Developers
If you came here searching for a Blotato API alternative, you are probably building something: an n8n flow, a Claude Code skill, a product that posts for your own users. The best choice depends on who owns the accounts and how many there are.
For your own handful of accounts, Zernio and Upload Post are the cheapest. Zernio's first 2 accounts are free and accounts 3 to 10 cost $6 each, and it covers DMs, comments and analytics in the same API. Upload Post's free tier gives 10 uploads a month and its Basic plan covers 5 profiles for $192 a year, where each profile holds one account on every platform. Buffer is the safest choice if you also want a normal calendar for people, because the Buffer free plan already includes an API key.
For a product that connects other people's accounts, Ayrshare and Zernio are built for it: both have webhooks, both price by customer or account, and both expose comments and DMs. Ayrshare costs more but bills one customer as one profile no matter how many networks they connect. Postiz suits builders who want the source code too, because you can read how each network is handled and run the same API on your own server.
Watch the request limits as much as the price. Blotato allows 30 create post requests a minute, Postiz 100 create post requests an hour on its cloud, and Buffer's API is metered by the month as well as in 15 minute and 24 hour windows. An agent that polls for status burns through those faster than a person does. Our guide to automating social media posts walks through a scheduled pipeline from start to finish.
Open Source Blotato Alternatives and Self Hosted Options
Blotato is closed source and hosted only, so "Blotato alternatives open source" has one strong answer on this list: Postiz. The Postiz repository is AGPL 3.0, and the company says it does not gate features in the license. The Postiz pricing FAQ names AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Railway, Hetzner and Coolify as servers it can be deployed on, and the MCP server, API and webhooks are part of the same code.
Self hosting has two costs people forget. The first is your own server and its upkeep: updates, backups and a queue that keeps running at night. The second is network approval. A self hosted scheduler posts through your own developer apps on Meta, TikTok, LinkedIn and the rest, and getting those apps approved can take weeks; the Postiz pricing FAQ says Facebook, Instagram, Threads and YouTube usually take more than a month, and it sells approval help as an optional paid service.
AGPL 3.0 also matters if you plan to change the code and offer it to others over a network, because the license asks you to share those changes. For internal use that rarely matters. If you want to compare Postiz with the other big open source scheduler, read Postiz vs Mixpost.
If what you actually wanted from open source was no monthly bill, the free tiers in the next sections may cost less in time than running a server.

Blotato AI Alternatives: Which Tools Write and Design the Posts
Most tools on this page publish what you bring. The Blotato AI alternative question is about the few that make something, and it helps to be exact about what each one makes.
Blotato writes from a topic or a source in a viral style, and spends credits on AI images, carousels, slideshows and avatar video. Ocoya drafts single posts and whole campaigns from credits and has a design studio. Postiz has an AI copilot, AI images on Team and above, AI video and a clipping tool that cuts long YouTube videos into short ones. Upload Post writes titles, descriptions and hashtags for a short video. Buffer, Publer and Metricool help you word a post you are already writing.
All of them start from your prompt. Spreadcast starts from facts that already exist. It reads your App Store listing, notices when a new version ships or the app passes a rating milestone, and designs the post around your real screenshots, icon and colors, with points taken from your actual release notes. Nobody has to think of a topic, and the post cannot drift from what the app really does. Our list of AI social media post generators compares the prompt based tools in more depth.
So pick by what your posts are about. If they are opinions, tips or a personal brand, a prompt based writer like Blotato or Ocoya fits. If they are about a product that ships updates, start from the product.
Blotato Free Alternatives: What You Get for $0
The search for a Blotato free alternative usually means one of two things: a free way to schedule posts, or a free way to post through an API or MCP. Here is what each free tier gives, read on the vendors' pages today.
Buffer Free gives 3 channels, 10 scheduled posts per channel at a time, the AI Assistant, comment replies, 30 days of insights and API access with 3,000 requests a month, which is enough to run its MCP server. Metricool Free gives 1 brand with every network except LinkedIn and X, 20 scheduled posts a month, 30 days of analytics and its MCP server, per Metricool's MCP limits page. Publer Free gives 3 accounts, excluding X, with no end date.
For an API, Zernio's first 2 accounts are free with every feature, and Upload Post's free tier gives 10 uploads a month across 2 profiles. Postiz is free if you host it yourself and pay only for the server. Spreadcast's free plan makes 3 posts for 1 app, designed from your listing, ready to download with a small Spreadcast mark; publishing starts on Pro.
None of these free tiers includes AI image or video generation on Blotato's scale. If that is the part you need, the realistic comparison is between paid plans, which the cost table below lays out.
What Blotato and Each Alternative Cost for Three Real Setups
Three setups, priced on monthly billing from each vendor's own page on October 19, 2026. One brand on 8 networks is 8 accounts. Three brands on 8 networks is 24 accounts. Ten client brands on 6 networks is 60 accounts. The arithmetic is shown so you can check it.
| Tool | One brand, 8 accounts | Three brands, 24 accounts | Ten brands, 60 accounts |
|---|---|---|---|
| Spreadcast | $29 on Pro (1 app, 10 accounts), with every post designed, captioned and published | $79 on Studio if the brands are apps (5 apps, 50 accounts, 3 seats) | Not built for 10 client brands; Studio stops at 5 apps |
| Blotato | $29 on Starter (20 accounts) | $97 on Creator (Starter stops at 20) | $499 on Agency (Creator stops at 40) |
| Postiz | $39 on Team (Standard stops at 5 channels) | $49 on Pro (30 channels) | $99 on Ultimate (100 channels), or $0 self hosted plus a server |
| Buffer Essentials | $48 (8 channels times $6) | $116 (10 times $6, plus 14 times $4) | $205 (10 times $6, 15 times $4, 25 times $3, 10 times $1) |
| Zernio | $36 (2 free, plus 6 times $6) | $90 (8 times $6, plus 14 times $3) | $198 (8 times $6, plus 50 times $3) |
| Upload Post | $192 a year on Basic, about $16 a month (1 profile) | $192 a year on Basic (5 profiles) | $400 a year on Professional, about $33 a month (25 profiles) |
| Ayrshare | $149 on Premium (1 profile, up to 14 accounts) | $299 on Launch (up to 140 accounts) | $299 on Launch (up to 140 accounts) |
| Metricool | $25 on Starter (Free leaves out LinkedIn and X) | $25 on Starter (up to 5 brands) | $45 on Starter (up to 10 brands); $67 on Advanced for the API |
| Ocoya | $79 on Team (Starter stops at 5 profiles) | $199 on Agency (Team stops at 20) | $199 on Agency (100 profiles) |
Upload Post shows yearly prices only on its plan cards, so those cells are yearly. Publer is left out because its pricing selector sets the price per account and per member, and its help center gives only the 1 account starting price. Repurpose.io is left out because it charges by accounts per network and posts video only. Taxes are extra everywhere.
What the Cost Table Says About Blotato
For one brand, Blotato is already cheap. $29 for 20 accounts beats per account tools at 8 accounts: Buffer is $48, Zernio $36 and Postiz Team $39. Only Metricool at $25 and Upload Post at about $16 on yearly billing come in lower, and neither writes or designs posts the way Blotato does. Spreadcast Pro is also $29 for 8 networks, and there the $29 includes posts designed from your App Store listing, captions for each network and publishing.
The picture changes at the first plan jump. Three brands on 8 networks is 24 accounts, which pushes Blotato to Creator at $97. Postiz Pro does the same job for $49, Zernio for $90 and Metricool for $25. At 60 accounts Blotato's Agency plan is $499, against $99 for Postiz Ultimate, $198 for Zernio and $205 for Buffer Essentials. The difference is what you get on top: the Agency price includes 28,000 AI credits a month for images and video plus Blotato's DM automations, so weigh it against what you would pay for those separately.
So the rule of thumb is simple. If you use Blotato's AI visuals and DM automations every week, its bigger plans can be worth the money. If you mainly use it to publish and to give an agent an API, a per account or per channel tool is cheaper once you pass 20 accounts.

Best Blotato Alternative by Need
Find your reason for leaving and start there.
For App Makers: Spreadcast
Paste your App Store link at the start page. Each new version and rating milestone becomes a designed post that Spreadcast publishes for you on 8 networks, and Claude or ChatGPT can make more through its MCP server. See how it fits mobile apps.
For an API for Developers: Zernio
Two free accounts, then $6, $3 and $1 per account as you grow, with posting, DMs, comments, analytics and webhooks in one API. Upload Post is the cheaper choice if you only upload.
For AI Agents and MCP: Buffer or Postiz
Buffer gives a free plan with an API key and an OAuth connector in Claude. Postiz gives MCP, a CLI, an API and webhooks on every plan from $29, with more networks and team members.
For Open Source and Self Hosting: Postiz
AGPL 3.0 code with the same MCP server and API, free to run on your own server. Plan for the network app approvals, which can take more than a month for Meta and YouTube.
For Repurposing Video: Repurpose.io
Set a source once and every new video goes to Instagram, YouTube Shorts and your other destinations within a couple of hours, from $35 a month, with clips from long videos and carousel workflows.
For a Free Plan: Buffer or Metricool
Buffer Free covers 3 channels with an API. Metricool Free covers 1 brand and 20 posts a month with its MCP server, but leaves out LinkedIn and X.
For Small Businesses: Metricool or Publer
Metricool prices per brand from $25 a month with analytics and reports. Publer starts at $10 a month on Business with recycling, approvals, an API and an MCP server.

How to Switch From Blotato to Another Tool
Do it in this order, and keep Blotato running until the new tool has published for a week.
- Step 1
Save What You Made Before the Plan Ends
Blotato's billing article says that when subscription access ends, a reactivation screen blocks the app, including videos, posts and settings you created, and that credits expire when access does. Download the videos and images you want to keep, and copy any templates or prompts, while the plan is still active.
- Step 2
List Your Automations and API Keys
Write down every n8n or Make flow, Claude skill and script that calls Blotato, and which accounts each one posts to. Each one needs a new node or a new MCP connection in the next tool, so this list is your migration checklist.
- Step 3
Connect Accounts in the New Tool
Connections never move between tools. Sign in to each network again in the new tool and approve access. With Zernio, Upload Post or Ayrshare, map Blotato's account IDs to the new IDs in your automations.
- Step 4
Swap the MCP Server in Your AI Client
Remove the Blotato connector in Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or Codex and add the new server's URL. Ask the assistant to list connected accounts first, then save one post as a draft before you let anything publish.
- Step 5
Cancel in the Billing Portal and Revoke Access
Open Settings, then Billing, then View Billing Portal to cancel; there is no long term commitment. Disconnect your social accounts in Blotato, and also remove Blotato in each network's own app permissions, such as Instagram's Apps and Websites settings.
- Step 6
Moving to Spreadcast Needs No Import
Paste your App Store link at the start page, connect the networks you post to and choose one tap approval or full autopilot. The posts come from your listing, so there is nothing to carry over. See pricing for the plans.
When Blotato Is Still the Right Choice
Blotato is a good product for the people it was built for, and it is fair to say so. If you are a solo creator who posts the same idea to nine networks, uses AI images and faceless video every week, and wants Instagram DM automations that send a link to anyone who comments a keyword, no tool on this page bundles all of that for $29 a month. Its n8n and Make nodes are official, and its help center is written for agents as much as for people.
Stay with it if those features are the reason you pay. Leave if you need a free way to test an API, separate logins for a team, LinkedIn analytics, open source code, or a bill that grows a few dollars at a time past 20 accounts. And if your posts are about an app, the honest limit of our own tool belongs here too: Spreadcast works only with apps on the Apple App Store, not Google Play yet, and it does not edit video, so keep a video tool such as Repurpose.io for clips and let Spreadcast make the update and milestone posts.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are the best Blotato alternatives?
Spreadcast for app makers, because it designs posts from your App Store listing and publishes them for you. Postiz for open source with MCP and an API. Buffer for a free plan with an API. Zernio and Upload Post for cheap posting APIs. Ayrshare for products that post for their users. Publer and Metricool for low cost scheduling and analytics, Ocoya for AI drafts, and Repurpose.io for video.
Is Blotato free?
No. Blotato has a 7 day free trial on each plan and no free plan. The trial includes every feature except the API and MCP, with 60 AI credits, and your card is charged when it ends unless you cancel, per Blotato's billing article.
How much does Blotato cost?
Starter is $29 a month for 20 social accounts and 1,250 AI credits, Creator is $97 for 40 accounts and 5,000 credits, and Agency is $499 for 100 accounts and 28,000 credits, per Blotato's pricing page. Yearly billing charges 10 months for 12, which saves about 17%.
Does generating a Blotato API key end the free trial?
Yes. Blotato's billing article says generating an API key in Settings ends the trial at that moment and starts your paid subscription, even with days left. Blotato shows a warning before it issues the key.
Is there an open source Blotato alternative?
Postiz is the strongest one. Its code is on GitHub under AGPL 3.0, you can self host it for the cost of a server, and it includes an MCP server, a public API and webhooks. Hosted plans start at $29 a month if you would rather not run it yourself.
What is a good Blotato API alternative?
Zernio if you want to pay per account, with the first 2 accounts free. Upload Post if you want the cheapest uploads, with a free tier of 10 a month. Ayrshare if you build a product that posts for many customers. Buffer if you also want a normal calendar, since its free plan includes an API key.
Is there a free Blotato alternative with an MCP server?
Yes. Buffer's free plan includes API access, which runs its MCP server, and Metricool's MCP works on its free plan for 1 brand. Zernio's first 2 accounts are free, and Postiz is free if you host it yourself.
Blotato vs Buffer: which is better?
Blotato is better if you want AI images, video and DM automations in one bill. Buffer is better if you want a free plan with an API, LinkedIn analytics and several users with approvals. Buffer charges $6 per channel a month on Essentials, so it costs more than Blotato's $29 once you pass 4 channels.
Blotato vs Postiz: what is the difference?
Both have an MCP server, an API and plans from $29 a month. Blotato adds AI visuals, viral templates and DM automations. Postiz adds open source code, unlimited team members from $39, more networks and an MCP server you can try during the trial.
Can more than one person use a Blotato account?
Not with separate logins. Blotato's team access article says it supports one user per account, and a teammate signs in with your email and the code sent to it, so there are no roles or audit trail.
Which Blotato alternative is best for app developers?
Spreadcast. Paste your App Store link once, and each new version and rating milestone becomes a post designed with your screenshots and brand, captioned for each network and published for you. Free drafts your posts; Pro is $29 a month and includes design, captions and publishing to every network.
Does Blotato support LinkedIn analytics and comments?
No. Blotato's analytics article says LinkedIn analytics are not available, and its inbox article says LinkedIn comments and messages are not supported because LinkedIn restricts access. The inbox covers Instagram accounts and Facebook Pages.
