What Claude for Social Media Marketing Does Well
Claude is a writing and reasoning assistant made by Anthropic. For social media marketing that means it is good at the parts of the job that are made of words and decisions: turning a product update into a post, rewriting one idea for five networks, planning a month around a launch, reading last quarter's numbers and saying what to try next. It is also good at keeping a voice. Give it a few posts you like and it holds that tone across dozens of drafts.
Most people searching for Claude for social media want one of four things. They want captions and posts written faster. They want a content plan they do not have to build in a spreadsheet. They want the same post adapted for Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok and Threads without rewriting it four times. Increasingly, they want Claude to put the post on the calendar, so the chat ends with something scheduled rather than something to copy. The first three Claude does out of the box. The fourth needs a connection to a tool that can publish, which is what most of this page is about.
Writing in a given voice. Claude follows style notes closely: short sentences, no exclamation marks, first person plural, a ban on certain words. It also follows examples, which is usually more reliable than adjectives. "Write like these three posts" works better than "write in a friendly, professional tone".
Adapting one message per network. Ask for one idea as a LinkedIn post, an Instagram caption, a Threads post and a Pinterest pin description, and Claude changes the length, the opening line and the hashtag count for each.
Planning. Claude can lay out a four week calendar around a release date, balance feature posts with tips and social proof, and explain why each post sits where it does. It can also point out gaps in a plan you already have.
Reading results. Paste a table of reach, saves and comments, or connect a tool that has your analytics, and Claude finds the pattern: which kind of post earned saves, which hour worked, which topic fell flat.
If you build apps, this is also the page that shows how Claude fits a release cycle: Claude Code can read your release notes in the repository, and the Spreadcast MCP server lets it turn them into designed, branded posts.
What Claude Cannot Do on Its Own
A plain Claude chat has no login to Instagram, LinkedIn or any other network. It cannot press publish, it cannot hold a post until Tuesday at nine, and it cannot read your comments. Everything it writes stays in the chat until you copy it somewhere. That is the single biggest misunderstanding behind searches like "claude social media manager": Claude can do the thinking of a social media manager, but the hands come from a tool you connect.
Claude also does not paint pictures. Anthropic's help article on images says Claude does not generate photos or illustrations the way image generation tools do. What it can make, according to the same page, is diagrams, charts and interactive visuals built with HTML and SVG inside the conversation. So a plain chat can plan a carousel slide by slide and write every word on it, but the finished picture has to come from somewhere else: your designer, a design tool, or a connected service that designs posts.
It also needs the brand written down somewhere it will read. Inside a Project, Claude reads the project's instructions and files in every chat. Anthropic's Projects article also notes that context is not shared across chats in a project unless the information is added to the project knowledge, which is why a brand guide belongs in project knowledge rather than in one old chat.
There is one newer exception, which Anthropic announced on April 17, 2026: Claude Design, covered in its own section below, lays out finished visuals such as social media graphics. It builds them as designs on a canvas rather than painting photos, so the rule above still holds for photos and illustrations.
None of this is a reason to avoid Claude for social media. It is a reason to set it up properly: a Project for the brand, a Skill or two for the formats you repeat, and a connector for the tool that does the posting.
Can Claude Post to Instagram?
Not by itself. Claude can post to Instagram only through a connector to a social media tool that already holds your Instagram connection and publishes through Instagram's API. You connect Instagram once inside that tool. Then you connect the tool to Claude. When you ask for a post, Claude calls the tool, the tool saves or publishes the post, and your Instagram password never passes through the chat.
Instagram itself sets some rules that every such tool has to follow. Meta's content publishing guide says publishing through the API works for Instagram professional accounts, so a personal account has to be switched to a professional one first. The same guide limits a carousel to 10 images, videos or a mix of the two, and says JPEG is the only image format it accepts. A tool built for Instagram handles the format for you. What you need to check is that your account is professional and connected in the tool, not in Claude.
Spreadcast is one such tool, built for people who make apps. Connected to Claude, it lets Claude design the Instagram post or a carousel of 3 to 8 slides in your app's colors, fonts and logo, with a real screenshot of your app in an iPhone frame, write the Instagram caption with fitting hashtags and save it as a draft. Instagram is one of the networks Spreadcast posts to, alongside TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook, Threads, Pinterest, Bluesky, Mastodon, Telegram and Discord, plus YouTube for video posts.
Can Claude Post to Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok and Pinterest for Me?
Yes, through the same route as Instagram: a connected tool holds the login for each network, and Claude asks that tool to save or publish. What changes is where the post can go, because each network sets that in its own API.
Facebook. Spreadcast posts to Facebook Pages, not personal profiles. Meta's guide to Page posts asks for a Page access token and the pages_manage_posts permission on a Page you can create content for. You pick the Pages when you connect Facebook.
LinkedIn. The open permission for posting is w_member_social, which the Share on LinkedIn guide describes as creating a post on behalf of the member who signed in. Spreadcast uses it, so Claude's LinkedIn posts go out from your personal profile. Company pages are not supported today. More on the LinkedIn MCP server page.
TikTok. TikTok's Content Posting API guide says that everything posted by an app TikTok has not audited yet stays in private viewing mode. Spreadcast is in that position, so a TikTok post Claude sends through it stays private, visible only to you, until TikTok finishes its audit of the app. See the TikTok MCP server page.
Pinterest. Claude can ask Spreadcast to design an image Pin in your brand and write its title and description, and Spreadcast also publishes a video Pin from a video you upload yourself. Details are on the Pinterest MCP server page.
Threads, Bluesky, Telegram and Discord need no special setup: connect once in Spreadcast and ask Claude in plain words.
Can Claude Schedule or Auto Post Instagram Posts?
Claude can schedule Instagram posts when the connected tool can schedule. The scheduling itself happens in the tool, not in Claude: Claude passes a time with the post, and the tool publishes at that time even when the chat is closed and your computer is off. Claude does not need to be running at nine on Tuesday for the post to go out.
Auto posting is a different question, and the honest answer is that you should decide how automatic you want it to be. There are three levels.
Drafts only. Claude writes and designs, the tool saves a draft, and you approve it in the tool. Nothing reaches Instagram without a person looking at it. This is how a new Spreadcast connection starts, and it is the right level for most brands.
Ask before publishing. The connection is allowed to schedule and publish, but Claude shows you the post, the network and the time and waits for your yes. Claude itself also asks before it runs a connector's tools: Anthropic's custom connector guide tells you to review each tool approval request and to choose Allow always only for servers and tools you trust to run unsupervised.
Fully automatic. A scheduled Cowork task, covered further down, can run the same prompt every week with no one in the chat. Combined with a connection that may publish, that is real auto posting. It is also how a typo ends up on your public profile, so most people keep that task on drafts and approve the batch weekly.
For the click by click route from an empty Claude account to a scheduled post, see the guide on how to schedule social media posts with Claude. This page stays on the bigger picture: what to set up in Claude, which plan you need and how the pieces fit.
Is Claude Design Good for Social Media Posts?
Claude Design is Anthropic's tool for visual work made in conversation: you describe what you want, Claude builds it on a canvas beside the chat, and you refine it with messages, comments or by dragging things yourself. Anthropic's announcement names social media assets among the marketing work it is meant for, next to pitch decks, one pagers and landing pages.
For a social media marketer, three details from Anthropic's Claude Design article matter most. It is on Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans and switched on by default. It can take in a design system from a GitHub repository, design files or uploads, and new projects then use those colors, fonts and components on their own. And it exports to PDF, PPTX, Google Slides, standalone HTML and Canva, among others.
How to use Claude Design to create social media posts: start a design, give it the format in words ("an Instagram carousel, 4:5 portrait, six slides"), attach your logo and two or three screenshots, paste the copy, and ask for two or three variations. Fix details with comments on the slide. Our full guide to Claude Design for social media has more prompts and sizes.
So is Claude Design good for social media? It is good for the picture, and that was the missing piece in a plain Claude chat. It is not a publisher. Nothing in Anthropic's article covers posting or scheduling, and the export list has no direct route into Instagram or LinkedIn, so a design still has to be saved as an image and uploaded through a scheduler or the network's own app. That is fine for a one off campaign graphic, and slow for a feed that needs a branded post every week.
Spreadcast removes that round trip for app makers: connected to it, Claude designs the post inside Spreadcast with your brand kit and real screenshots in an iPhone frame, and the result is already a draft on your calendar with a caption per network.
Claude Features That Matter for Social Media
Claude has more surfaces than a chat box. These are the ones that change how much social media work it can carry, each with what it is for in plain words.
Projects for Your Brand
A Project groups chats with standing instructions and files. Put your brand guide, audience notes and best past posts in project knowledge, write the rules once as project instructions, and every chat in that Project starts from them. Anthropic's Projects article says Projects are open to every user, and Free users can create up to five.
Skills for Repeated Formats
A Skill is a folder of instructions, and optionally scripts and reference files, that Claude loads only when a task needs it. Anthropic's Skills article lists applying brand style guidelines among the uses and says Skills are on Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans, with code execution turned on. Our list of Claude skills for social media covers the ones worth installing.
Connectors From the Directory
Connectors let Claude work in other apps. The Claude connectors directory lists hundreds of connectors and plugins, filtered by category, including Creative and Sales and marketing. Design tools such as Canva and Figma are there.
Custom Connectors for Any MCP Server
When a tool is not in the directory, you add its address as a custom connector. This works with any remote server that speaks the Model Context Protocol, which is how Spreadcast connects. It is the route for most social media tools today.
Cowork for Multi Step Jobs
Cowork lets Claude work through a longer task in steps, with your files and connectors, and run it on a schedule. Anthropic's Cowork article says it uses the same agentic setup as Claude Code with no terminal, on paid plans.
Claude on Your Phone
Anthropic's connectors article says web connectors work in Claude on the web, the desktop app and the iOS and Android apps. Installing connectors on mobile is in beta, so add them on the computer and use them from the phone.
How to Set Up a Claude Project for Your Brand Voice
A Project is the cheapest upgrade you can make to Claude for social media content creation. It takes about twenty minutes and it works on every plan. Here is what to put in it.
- Step 1
Create One Project per Brand
Name it after the product, for example Streakly Social. If you run several apps or several clients, give each its own Project. Mixing brands in one Project is the fastest way to get one app's voice in another app's caption.
- Step 2
Write the Project Instructions
Keep them short and testable. Who the audience is, in one sentence. What the product does, in one sentence. Five to ten voice rules you can check, such as "no exclamation marks", "never say unique", "address the reader as you". Which networks you post to and how long each post should be. A short list of words and claims the brand never uses. And one hard rule: never invent numbers, quotes or customers.
- Step 3
Add Project Knowledge
Upload the files Claude should read every time: a one page brand guide, your App Store description, a list of features with plain explanations, and ten past posts that did well with a line on why. Real examples teach voice better than any description, so spend most of your effort here.
- Step 4
Test It With Three Briefs
Ask for the same post three ways: a feature post, a tip post and a thank you post for a rating milestone. Read them side by side. When something sounds off, fix the instructions or add an example rather than correcting the single post. That fix carries into every later chat.
- Step 5
Share It on a Team Plan
On Team and Enterprise, Anthropic's Projects article says you can share a Project with colleagues as Can view or Can edit. Give edit rights to the one or two people who own the voice, and view rights to everyone else.
How to Build Claude Social Media Skills
A Project holds the brand. A Skill holds a procedure you repeat, such as "turn release notes into a launch carousel" or "write the weekly LinkedIn tip". These steps follow Anthropic's guide to creating custom skills.
- Step 1
Pick One Workflow per Skill
Anthropic's guide recommends focused skills over one large one. Good social media skills are narrow: a carousel outline skill, a caption per network skill, a monthly report skill. Each one does one job the same way every time.
- Step 2
Write the Skill File
A skill is a folder with a file named skill.md. It opens with a name of up to 64 characters and a description of up to 200 characters. The description matters most, because Claude reads it to decide when to use the skill. Write it the way you would ask: "Use when asked to turn app release notes into an Instagram or LinkedIn carousel."
- Step 3
Spell Out the Steps and the Format
Below the header, list the steps in plain words: read the notes, pick the three changes users will notice, write a cover line under eight words, one slide per change, a last slide that says where to get the app. Then give the exact output format, such as a numbered list of slides with a headline and a body line for each.
- Step 4
Add Examples of Good Output
The guide suggests example inputs and outputs. Paste one real set of release notes and the carousel you would have wanted from it. One strong example does more than a page of rules.
- Step 5
Zip, Upload and Switch It On
Zip the folder so the skill folder sits at the root of the archive, upload it, and enable it under Customize, Skills. Skills need code execution to be on. On Team and Enterprise, Owners can provision a skill for everyone, according to Anthropic's Skills article. If Claude ignores the skill when it should use it, make the description more specific.
Claude Social Media Skills on GitHub: What to Copy and What to Check
Before writing a skill from scratch, look at Anthropic's public skills repository on GitHub. It holds the skill format, a template folder and working examples. Two are useful starting points for social media work. The brand guidelines skill applies brand colors and type to whatever Claude makes, but its file is written for Anthropic's own brand, so copy the folder and swap in your colors, fonts and rules. The canvas design skill makes static visual pieces as PNG or PDF files.
Its readme says the skills are for demonstration and educational purposes, so treat them as patterns to adapt, not finished social media tools.
Searches for the best Claude skills for social media marketing usually lead to community repositories with caption skills, hook skills, carousel skills and "social media manager" bundles. Anthropic's article on using skills names prompt injection as the most significant risk, warns that a skill can include or tell Claude to install third party software, and asks you to install skills only from trusted sources and to read a skill's files before enabling it, even one shared by a colleague.
A social media post design skill can tell Claude how to lay out a slide, but it cannot give Claude your real app screenshots or a publishing connection. Those come from your files and a connected tool, which is why a skill works best paired with a connector.
Claude Social Media Connectors: Directory or Custom
There are two ways to give Claude a social media tool. The first is the Claude connectors directory, Anthropic's catalog where each listing shows what the connector does and you add it with a few clicks. The second is a custom connector, where you paste the address of a tool's MCP server yourself. MCP, the Model Context Protocol, is the open standard both routes use, so the difference is only in how you find and add the connector, not in how it works once it is there.
For social media publishing, the custom route is the one you will use most. When this page was written the directory showed design tools such as Canva and Figma and plenty of marketing and CRM tools, but we did not see a social media scheduler among the listings we could view. Most social media tools that work with Claude publish an MCP address on their own site instead, often on a page called integrations, developers or AI assistants. That is the case for Spreadcast, whose address is spreadcast.app/api/mcp, starting with https.
You add one under Customize, Connectors, Add custom connector, by pasting the address. On Team and Enterprise plans an Owner adds it once for the organization and each member signs in with their own account, per Anthropic's custom connector guide.
Three facts from Anthropic's pages are worth knowing before you add one. Claude connects to a custom connector from Anthropic's cloud rather than from your device, so the same connector works on the web, the desktop app and the phone. Custom connectors reach services Anthropic has not verified, and the guide warns that a malicious server may include hidden instructions meant to make Claude do something you did not ask for, so connect only tools you trust. And during Advanced research, connector tools can run without asking you again, so the guide recommends switching off any tool that writes before you start research.
If you want to compare the tools you could connect, the best social media MCP servers ranks them with prices, and the Spreadcast MCP server page lists every tool Spreadcast gives Claude.
Claude Plan Limits for Social Media Work
What each Claude plan allows for social media marketing. Prices come from Claude's pricing page. Connector rules come from Anthropic's custom connector guide, Projects from Anthropic's Projects article, Skills from Anthropic's Skills article and Cowork from Anthropic's article on Cowork scheduled tasks.
| Claude plan | Price | Custom connectors | Projects and Skills | Claude Code and Cowork |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | Yes, limited to one custom connector | Up to five Projects. Skills with code execution on | Claude Code is not included. Cowork is for paid plans |
| Pro | $20 a month, or $17 a month billed yearly | Yes | Projects and Skills included | Claude Code included. Cowork and scheduled tasks included |
| Max | From $100 a month | Yes | Projects and Skills included | Claude Code, Cowork and scheduled tasks included, with more usage than Pro |
| Team | $25 a seat a month, or $20 billed yearly, for a standard seat | Yes, added by an Owner or Primary Owner in Organization settings | Projects can be shared. Owners can provision Skills for everyone | Claude Code, Cowork and scheduled tasks included |

Checked on October 16, 2026. Anthropic changes plans often, so trust its own pages if they differ. Your Claude plan is separate from any social media tool's plan.
Which Claude Plan You Need for Social Media
Free is enough to try the whole idea. One custom connector covers one social media tool, and five Projects cover a few brands. The limit you will feel first is that single connector: you cannot have a social media tool and a design tool side by side, so pick the one that does more of the job.
Pro is the plan most solo founders and small marketing teams settle on. It removes the one connector limit, adds Claude Code for anyone who builds, and adds Cowork and scheduled tasks, which is what turns "write my posts" into "draft next week's posts every Monday morning".
Team makes sense once more than one person touches the brand. The Owner adds the social media connector once, everyone signs in with their own account, and a shared Project keeps one voice across people. Max is mostly about usage, for people who hit Pro's limits.
Which Claude Model Is Best for Social Media Marketing?
The model menu in Claude depends on your plan. Claude's pricing page lists Sonnet and Haiku on Free, adds Opus on Pro and Max, and puts Fable, Anthropic's most capable model for all customers, behind usage credits on Pro and a share of weekly limits on Max. So the real question is which of the models you have to pick for which job.
Sonnet for everyday social media content. Anthropic's guide to choosing a model points to Claude Sonnet 5.5 for speed and capability on everyday work and names content creation among its example uses. Captions, rewrites per network and carousel outlines are that kind of work.
Opus for strategy and long agent runs. The same guide describes Claude Opus 5.5 as built for long running agentic and knowledge work. Use it for jobs with many steps, such as a quarterly strategy from a long export or a Cowork task that designs and checks a week of posts through a connector.
Haiku for volume. The guide places Claude Haiku 5.5 at the lowest latency and price, for high volume work. It suits quick bulk jobs such as twenty hashtag sets or alt text for a folder of images.
Then test: Anthropic's guide calls a set of tests built from your own prompts the most important step. Run three real briefs through two models in the same Project and read the results blind.
Claude Code and Cowork for Social Media Management
Claude Code and Cowork are where Claude stops being a chat you visit and starts doing work on a rhythm. They suit different people, so here is what each is for.
Claude Code runs in your terminal or editor, inside a project folder. For an app maker that folder already holds the best social media source there is: the changelog, the release notes, the commit history and the screenshots folder. Ask Claude Code "what did we ship since the last tag, and which of it would a user care about?" and it reads the code and the history to answer. Add a social media server and the same session can turn that answer into drafts. Claude Code's MCP docs show a remote server added with one command, claude mcp add with the http transport, a name and the address, and an OAuth sign in finished by typing /mcp and following the steps in your browser.
One detail from the same docs matters for teams. A server added with the project scope is written to a file named .mcp.json in the project root and shared through version control, while the user scope keeps it private and available in all your projects. Use the user scope, or sign in with OAuth, for anything that can post.
Cowork is the same agentic approach without the terminal. Anthropic's Cowork article describes it as using the same architecture as Claude Code for knowledge work, on paid plans, with connectors chosen from the plus menu and permission modes that decide whether Claude asks before acting. The part that matters most for social media management is scheduled tasks. Anthropic's scheduled tasks article says you describe a task once, Claude saves the prompt and runs it hourly, daily, weekly, on weekdays or by hand, and each run opens its own session for you to review. Tasks run remotely, so they keep their schedule while your computer sleeps, unless they need local files or apps.
So a weekly Cowork task can read last week's results, draft next week's posts and leave them for you to approve on Monday. On a drafts only connection, a bad run leaves a weak draft and nothing more.
A Full Workflow: Claude Designs, Writes and Saves Drafts in Spreadcast
This example uses an invented habit tracker called Streakly, owned by an invented founder called Alex, on Spreadcast Pro with Instagram, LinkedIn and Threads connected. Claude has a Streakly Project and a drafts only Spreadcast connector. It shows the mechanics, not a customer result.
- Step 1
Alex Opens the Streakly Project
The Project instructions describe the audience as people building a morning routine and list the voice rules: calm, short sentences, no streak shaming. The knowledge holds ten past posts. Alex turns the Spreadcast connector on for the chat and types: "We shipped 3.2 this week. Make a carousel for Instagram and LinkedIn and a short post for Threads."
- Step 2
Claude Reads the Account and the Brand Kit
Claude asks Spreadcast which networks are connected and whether this connection may publish. It learns that three networks are connected and that the connection saves drafts only. It reads the Streakly brand kit in Spreadcast: green and cream colors, the fonts, the logo and screenshots of the app. Spreadcast has already spotted version 3.2 on the App Store listing, so Claude reads its release notes from that moment instead of asking Alex to paste them.
- Step 3
Claude Designs the Carousel
Claude asks Spreadcast to design a carousel of 5 slides in the Streakly brand: a cover, three slides with real Streakly screenshots in an iPhone frame showing the new reminders and the widget, and a last slide that sends people to the App Store. Spreadcast draws the slides with the same design code as its own app. The previews show up in the chat within seconds.
- Step 4
Claude Writes a Caption per Network
Using the Project's voice rules and Spreadcast's rules for each network, Claude writes three captions: a longer LinkedIn post that explains why adaptive reminders matter, an Instagram caption with a few hashtags and a Threads post of two sentences. It checks each one against the network's limits before saving.
- Step 5
Claude Saves Drafts and Stops
Claude saves the carousel post for Instagram and LinkedIn and the Threads post as drafts on the Spreadcast calendar, at the hours Alex's past posts did best. Because the connection is drafts only, it cannot schedule or publish, and it says so.
- Step 6
Alex Approves in Spreadcast
Alex opens Spreadcast, swipes through the slides, changes one word in the LinkedIn caption and approves both drafts. Spreadcast publishes them at the planned times. On Friday Alex asks Claude how the posts did, and Claude reads the likes and comments per network and the follower counts from Spreadcast.
Prompts for Claude Social Media Content Creation
These prompts work in a plain Claude chat or a Project. The last column says what changes when a social media tool such as Spreadcast is connected. Replace the details in each prompt with your own.
| Prompt | What Claude gives you in a plain chat | With Spreadcast connected |
|---|---|---|
| Here are our release notes. Pick the three changes a user would notice and write one post per change, in our voice. | Three posts to copy, with a line on why each change was chosen. | Claude can read the release notes from the App Store moment itself, design a post picture for each and save three drafts. |
| Turn this post into an Instagram caption, a LinkedIn post, a Threads post and a Pinterest pin description. | Four versions with different lengths, openings and hashtag counts. | Claude reads each network's limits and required fields first, so a Pinterest title is never missing. |
| Plan four weeks of posts around our launch on the 20th. Mix features, tips and social proof, three posts a week. | A calendar as a table with a topic, a network and a reason for each slot. | The same plan as drafts on the Spreadcast calendar, spread over the weeks at the hours that worked for you. |
| Outline a carousel of 6 slides about our offline mode: a cover, four slides and a last slide with where to get the app. | Slide by slide headlines and body lines, ready for a designer. | Designed slides in your app's brand with real screenshots in an iPhone frame, shown in the chat. |
| Here are last month's numbers. Which kinds of posts earned saves and comments, and what should we do more of? | A short reading of the table you pasted. | Claude reads totals per network, top posts and best hours from your own results, without a paste. |
A prompt that names the input, the format, the length and one thing to avoid beats a long description of tone.
How to Use Claude for Social Media Strategy and Analysis
A social media audit with Claude works best as a monthly routine, not a single clever prompt.
- Step 1
Export the Numbers Before They Expire
Download each network's results as a spreadsheet, or connect a tool that holds them. Meta's Instagram insights guide says account level metrics are kept for up to 90 days, and some metrics are missing on accounts with fewer than 100 followers.
- Step 2
Give Claude the Goal, Not Only the Data
Upload the files into the brand Project and say what the account is for: installs, sign ups or replies. A launch month and a quiet month read very differently. Add release dates and anything unusual.
- Step 3
Ask Audit Questions With Plain Answers
Which three posts earned the most saves and comments, and what do they share? Which formats underperform for their effort? Which weekdays and hours worked? Which topics did we stop posting about? Ask Claude to quote the rows behind each answer.
- Step 4
Turn Findings Into Three Tests
A strategy is a short list of bets, not a slide deck. Ask for three changes to try next month, each with what to measure and what result would make you keep it. For example, two carousels a week instead of one.
- Step 5
Close the Loop Next Month
Paste last month's three tests with the new numbers and ask which ones to keep. With Spreadcast connected, Claude reads totals per network, the best posts, the best hours and weekdays, follower counts and your app's ratings directly, so this step needs no export.
Is Claude Better Than ChatGPT for Social Media Marketing?
Both write well, and the better writer for your brand is the one that passes a blind test on your own briefs. Where they differ clearly is setup and access. Each row below comes from the vendor's own help pages, read on October 16, 2026.
| Question | Claude | ChatGPT |
|---|---|---|
| Can it connect to a social media tool that saves and schedules posts? | Yes, through a custom connector on every plan, Free included, where it is limited to one, per Anthropic's guide. | OpenAI's help article says full MCP support with write actions is for Business, Enterprise and Edu, and Pro gets read and fetch only. |
| Does it confirm before writing to another app? | It asks for approval per tool, and you can set tools to Always allow, Needs approval or Blocked. | OpenAI's custom MCP guide says write actions require confirmation by default. |
| Where can you use the connection? | Web, desktop and the iOS and Android apps, with mobile installation in beta. | OpenAI's guide sets up custom MCP servers in ChatGPT on the web. |
| Can it make the post picture itself? | No. Claude does not generate photos or illustrations. It draws diagrams and charts, and a connected tool can design the post. | Yes. OpenAI's Images article says ChatGPT Images is available on all tiers. |
| Where does the brand voice live? | Projects with instructions and knowledge, up to five on Free, plus Skills for repeated formats. | Projects with instructions and files. OpenAI's Projects article lists 5 files per project on Free, 25 on Plus and 40 on Pro, Business and Enterprise. |
For the ChatGPT side in depth, see the ChatGPT social media automation page linked below.
When to Pick Claude, When to Pick ChatGPT
Pick Claude for social media marketing if you want an assistant that can act in your social media tool on a personal plan. A custom connector works on Claude Free and Pro, while ChatGPT puts write actions for custom servers on its workspace plans. Claude is also the natural choice if you build software, because Claude Code reads your repository and your release notes, and if you want a weekly job that drafts posts without you opening a chat.
Pick ChatGPT if you mostly need pictures made from a text prompt inside the chat, or if your company already runs a ChatGPT Business or Enterprise workspace where an admin has set up the tools. Many teams use both: one for images and quick ideas, the other for the drafting work connected to the calendar.
Spreadcast works with either. The same address connects to Claude and to ChatGPT, and the posts Claude or ChatGPT designs come from the same Spreadcast design code, so the choice of assistant does not change how your posts look. For the ChatGPT route, read ChatGPT social media automation and how to schedule social media posts with ChatGPT.
Mistakes to Avoid When Using Claude as a Social Media Manager
These are the errors that make Claude's social media work look generic or put the wrong thing on a public profile.
Briefing Claude With Adjectives
"Friendly but professional" means nothing to anyone. Give Claude three real posts you like and the rules you can check. Examples carry voice, adjectives do not.
Letting It Fill In Numbers
Ask for a stat post without a stat and you may get a plausible one. Put "never invent numbers, quotes or customers" in the Project instructions and give the real figures in the brief.
One Caption Pasted Everywhere
The same text on LinkedIn, Instagram and Threads reads wrong on at least two of them. Always ask for one version per network, with the length and hashtag count each one expects.
Allow Always on Publishing Tools
Allow always is fine for reading your account or listing posts. For tools that schedule, publish or delete, keep Needs approval, and start the connection on drafts only.
Connecting Tools You Have Not Checked
Anthropic warns that a custom connector reaches a service it has not verified and that a malicious server can hide instructions. Connect only tools from companies you would give your social logins to.
Leaving Write Tools On During Research
During Advanced research Claude can call connector tools without asking again. Switch off any tool that writes before you ask it to research competitors with your social media connector on.
What Spreadcast Adds to Claude, by Spreadcast Plan
Spreadcast's MCP server works on every Spreadcast plan. Your Claude plan only decides whether you can add it, as shown above. Details on the pricing page.

|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | Read your account and brand kit, list App Store moments, design posts, carousels of 3 to 8 slides and moment posts, write a caption per network, check posts and save drafts. You publish the drafts yourself. |
| Pro | $29 a month | Everything in Free, plus scheduling and publishing to every network you connected, once you allow publishing when you connect. |
| Studio | $79 a month | Everything in Pro for 5 apps, each with its own brand kit, so Claude designs and writes for the right app every time. |
Publishing needs two things: the Pro or Studio plan, and a connection you allowed to publish on the Spreadcast consent screen.
Where to Go Next
If you want the click by click setup, start with how to schedule social media posts with Claude. If you want to see every tool Claude gets from Spreadcast and how sign in works, read the Spreadcast MCP server reference, and if you want the address and a plain overview, open the Spreadcast MCP page. For a wider view of what an assistant can run on its own, see the AI agent for social media page and the AI social media manager page.
And if you are deciding what to post in the first place, how to promote an app on social media covers the content side that Claude will then help you produce.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can Claude be used for social media marketing?
Yes. Claude writes posts and captions, adapts one idea for each network, plans content calendars and reads results you give it. To save, schedule or publish posts, connect it to a social media tool through a connector, such as Spreadcast.
Can Claude post to Instagram directly?
Not on its own. Claude posts to Instagram through a connected social media tool that holds your Instagram professional account. Meta's publishing guide limits API publishing to professional accounts. With Spreadcast connected, Claude designs the post, writes the caption and saves a draft you approve.
Can Claude schedule Instagram posts?
Yes, when the connected tool schedules. Claude passes the time with the post and the tool publishes it then, even with the chat closed. In Spreadcast, scheduling needs the Pro plan and a connection you allowed to publish.
Is there a Claude social media connector?
Yes. Social media tools with an MCP server connect as a custom connector, which works on every Claude plan and is limited to one on Free, per Anthropic's guide. Spreadcast connects at spreadcast.app/api/mcp, starting with https, and you sign in with your Spreadcast account.
What are Claude social media skills?
Skills are folders of instructions Claude loads for a specific task. For social media, useful skills turn release notes into a carousel outline, write one caption per network or build a monthly report. You upload them under Customize, Skills, with code execution turned on.
Can Claude make the images for my posts?
Claude does not generate photos or illustrations. It can write every word for a picture and draw charts in the chat. With Spreadcast connected, Claude asks Spreadcast to design the post picture or carousel in your app's brand, with real screenshots in an iPhone frame.
Is Claude better than ChatGPT for social media marketing?
It depends on the job. Claude can use a custom connector that writes to your social media tool on personal plans, and adds Projects, Skills, Cowork and Claude Code. ChatGPT makes images in the chat. Test both on the same brief in your own voice before you choose.
Which networks can Claude post to through Spreadcast?
Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook, Threads, Pinterest, Bluesky, Telegram and Discord, as long as you have connected them in Spreadcast. YouTube and Mastodon also connect.
Will Claude publish without asking me?
Not through a new Spreadcast connection. It starts on drafts only, and you approve each post in Spreadcast. If you allow publishing, Claude is told to show you the post, the networks and the time and wait for your yes.
