How to Get Featured on the App Store in 2026

Apple's editors pick every featured app, and the only way to ask is a Featuring Nomination in App Store Connect, sent at least two to three weeks ahead and ideally three months. Here is what Apple looks for, what to write and how each placement works.

How to Get Featured on the App Store: The Short Answer

To get featured on the App Store, build an app that does well on the seven things Apple's editors consider, then tell them what is coming through a Featuring Nomination in App Store Connect. Apple's Getting Featured page asks for a minimum of two weeks of notice and recommends submitting up to three months in advance for wider consideration. Its nomination help recommends a minimum lead time of three weeks. Nominations are free, open to any developer, and reviewed by Apple's editorial team; nothing guarantees a placement.

Apple says there is no checklist of requirements, but it names what its team considers: user experience, UI design, innovation, uniqueness, accessibility, localization and the App Store product page, with eight more factors for games. It looks for new apps and games, significant updates, In App Events, cultural or seasonal moments and good stories about the people behind an app. A nomination works best when it ties one of those to a date.

Featuring means many different placements: Today tab stories, App of the Day and Game of the Day, collections and lists, In App Events, pre orders, personalized recommendations and the Editors' Choice badge. They have different rules. Personalized recommendations are chosen by the store's systems from what people do, not by editors, and Editors' Choice is a badge that stays on your product page. Each one is covered below with Apple's own description.

Two things on this page are easy to miss elsewhere. Apple's own pages disagree on lead time, two weeks on one and three weeks on two others, and most guides quote only one. And you cannot buy an editorial feature. Apple Ads can place an ad on the Today tab, but that is advertising, labeled as such, and separate from the editorial picks. Every Apple fact here links to the Apple page it was read on, on October 19, 2026.

Key Takeaways

  • Nominate in App Store Connect

In your app, open Featuring, then Nominations, and create one. You need the Account Holder, Admin, App Manager or Marketing role, per Apple's nomination help.

  • Three Weeks Is the Safe Minimum

Apple's Getting Featured page says at least two weeks; its App Store Connect help and CSV template say three. Aim for six to twelve weeks before a launch or big update.

  • Seven Things Editors Weigh

User experience, UI design, innovation, uniqueness, accessibility, localization and the product page. Games add gameplay, art, controls, story, replayability, sound, performance and value.

  • Three Nomination Types

New Content for content, offers or events; App Enhancements for new features and big updates; App Launch for a new app or a pre order.

  • Every App Is Eligible

Apple says all apps and games can be App of the Day or Game of the Day, brand new or ten years old, and that indie developers and household names both have a chance.

  • Featuring Cannot Be Bought

Editorial placements are chosen by Apple's editors. Apple Ads can buy a Today tab ad, which is a separate, labeled ad product, not a feature.

Apple's Seven Featuring Considerations

The factors Apple's editorial team says it considers, in the order Apple lists them on its Getting Featured page. The middle column is Apple's description; the last is our reading of what to check in your own app.

Apple's Seven Featuring Considerations
ConsiderationHow Apple describes itWhat to check before you nominate
User experienceCohesive, efficient and valuable functionality that is helpful and easy to useThe main task works in a few taps for a first time user, with no dead ends
UI designGreat usability, appeal and overall quality, such as beautiful visuals or intuitive gestures and controlsThe app follows the current system look, including Dark Mode and the latest design language
InnovationNew technologies that solve a unique problem and give an enhanced experienceYou use a recent Apple framework in a way that matters to users, not as a checkbox
UniquenessA fresh approach to a familiar category, or a new genreYou can say in one sentence what you do that the top apps in your category do not
AccessibilityA great experience for a broad range of users with well integrated featuresVoiceOver, Larger Text and contrast work on every main screen
LocalizationHigh quality support for multiple languages with culturally relevant contentStore text, screenshots and the app itself are translated for the markets you nominate
App Store product pageCompelling screenshots, app previews and descriptions, plus positive ratings and reviewsScreenshots match the current build, and ratings are healthy in the target markets

Apple adds that it showcases high quality apps across all categories and business models, so a free app, a paid app and a subscription app are judged on the same factors.

Extra Featuring Considerations for Games

For games, Apple's Getting Featured page lists eight more factors on top of the seven above. Apple names them without descriptions; the second column is our note on what each usually means in a pitch.

Extra Featuring Considerations for Games
Game factorWhat to show editors
Gameplay designThe core loop, and what makes a session satisfying
Art and animationA consistent visual style and motion that suits it
ControlsTouch controls built for the device, and controller support if you have it
Story and characters, if applicableWho the characters are and why the story is worth finishing
Replayability, if applicableWhy players come back after the first run
Sound design and musicOriginal audio, and what it adds
Technical performanceStable frame rates, fast loading and no crashes on supported devices
Overall valueWhat a player gets for the price or the time

Where Apps Get Featured on the App Store

Apple lists its featured placements on the Getting Featured page. Most are chosen by editors; personalized recommendations are not. The last column says how a developer gets considered for each.

How Far Ahead to Submit a Featuring Nomination

Lead time is where Apple's own pages disagree. Here is every figure we found, read on October 19, 2026. Plan on the longest of Apple's minimums, not the shortest.

Why the difference matters: a team that reads only the Getting Featured page and nominates 15 days out is already under the three week minimum in Apple's own App Store Connect help. Featuring lead time varies, Apple says, so earlier is never worse.

How to Submit a Featuring Nomination in App Store Connect

The steps from Apple's nomination help, for one nomination at a time. You need the Account Holder, Admin, App Manager or Marketing role.

  1. Step 1

    Open Nominations

In Apps, select the app. In the sidebar, under Featuring, click Nominations. The first time, click Get Started, then Create Nomination.

  2. Step 2

    Name It

Give the nomination a name your team will recognize later, such as the version number and the feature. The CSV template allows 60 characters.

  3. Step 3

    Pick the Type

New Content, App Enhancements or App Launch. The type cannot be changed after you submit.

  4. Step 4

    Describe What Is Coming

Apple asks you to state the purpose and priority of the nomination, specific details of the update and the goals of the new feature. The CSV template allows 1,000 characters.

  5. Step 5

    Choose the Date

A specific day or a custom range for when it will be on the App Store. The date follows your device's time zone.

  6. Step 6

Add Related Apps, Platforms and Regions

Up to 10 apps from the same account, the platforms it applies to, and the countries or regions and languages that matter. Regions and languages your app supports fill in by themselves.

  7. Step 7

    Attach Events and Materials

Attach an approved or published In App Event if you have one, and up to 5 links to supporting material, such as art, documents or a public TestFlight link.

  8. Step 8

    Write Helpful Details

Accessibility work, inclusivity, priority, or anything unusual about the app or the team. The CSV template allows 500 characters here.

  9. Step 9

    Save or Submit

Save as Draft to keep editing, or click Submit Nomination. A green banner confirms it and it moves to the Submitted section.

The Three Featuring Nomination Types

Apple's nomination help offers three types. Some third party guides describe different ones; AppTweak's guide, for example, lists new app or game, update or In App Event. The names below are the ones App Store Connect shows.

The Three Featuring Nomination Types
TypeApple's descriptionUse it for
New ContentNew content, offers or events in your app or gameA new season, a content drop, a holiday theme or an In App Event
App EnhancementsNew features, functionality or other significant updatesA major version, support for a new Apple technology, a redesign
App LaunchThe launch or pre order of a new app or gameA first release, or a pre order before it

An In App Event is not a type of its own. Use New Content, then attach the event in the In App Events field, which Apple recommends doing as early as possible.

Featuring Nomination Fields and Limits

The limits Apple publishes for nomination fields, mostly from the nominations CSV template, which describes the same fields as the form in App Store Connect.

Featuring Nomination Fields and Limits
FieldLimitEditable after submitting
Nomination name60 charactersYes
Nomination typeNew Content, App Enhancements or App LaunchNo

Video: Apple Introduces Featuring Nominations

Apple announced Featuring Nominations at WWDC24 in this session. The session page and transcript say editors review every nomination and consider them across any platform or region.

How to Write a Featuring Nomination Editors Can Use

Write it for a busy editor who has never opened your app. Apple's nomination help asks for the purpose and priority of the nomination, specific details about the update and the objectives of the new feature. In practice that means four things in the first two sentences: what is new, when it ships, who it is for, and why it matters now.

Lead with the user, not the company. "Our new widget lets runners see today's training load on the Lock Screen without opening the app" gives an editor something to write about. "We are excited to announce version 4.0 with many improvements" does not. Name the Apple technology if there is one, because Apple's considerations include innovation and new technologies, but only if it changes what users can do.

Then give the story. Apple's own session on app discovery, in its transcript, says editors read every submission and asks developers with a unique story to tell it. A solo developer, a team from an underrepresented community, an app built from a personal need or a cultural moment the app was built for are all worth a sentence in Helpful Details, which allows 500 characters.

Finish with proof and materials. Up to five supporting links can carry a press kit, a short video of the feature, artwork, a public TestFlight link or early reviews. If you attach a TestFlight build, make sure it shows the feature you nominated, and that any login it needs is written in the nomination.

Example Featuring Nomination, Field by Field

A nomination we wrote for a made up running app, to show how much fits and what each field is for. Every field is within Apple's published limits.

Example Featuring Nomination, Field by Field
FieldExample
NamePace 4.0, Lock Screen training widget
TypeApp Enhancements
DescriptionPace 4.0 adds a Lock Screen widget that shows today's training load and recovery, so runners can check whether to go hard or easy without opening the app. It uses the new interactive widget features to start a guided run from the Lock Screen. The update also adds full VoiceOver support to every workout screen and Japanese and Brazilian Portuguese localization. Priority: this is our biggest update of the year.
Publish dateA range, March 2 to March 9
PlatformsiOS (iPhone), watchOS
RegionsUnited States, United Kingdom, Japan, Brazil
In App EventsSpring Pace Challenge, approved, starting March 9
Supplemental materialsPress kit, 30 second feature video, public TestFlight link
Helpful detailsPace is made by two developers who started running after a heart scare. Every new screen was tested with VoiceOver users from a local running club for the blind.

What the example does: the user benefit is in the first sentence, the Apple technology is named once and tied to a user action, accessibility and localization are concrete, and the story is short and specific. Submitted in mid January, it would give editors about seven weeks.

Submitting Many Nominations at Once With the CSV Template

Teams with several apps or a full release calendar can import nominations in bulk. Apple's nominations template takes up to 50 nominations per CSV file. You download the template from App Store Connect, start in column A, row 5, put one nomination per row, keep the columns exactly as provided and save it as UTF 8.

Three rules catch people out. Nominations imported by CSV are submitted immediately and cannot be saved as drafts. Any change to the columns, such as deleting, adding or renaming one, makes the import fail. And when the file has errors, App Store Connect gives you a report with an extra column describing each error, which you fix and upload again.

To update many nominations later, select them under See All, export them as one CSV, edit it and import it again, keeping each Nomination ID so App Store Connect knows they already exist. Apple's nomination help describes the same export and duplicate options from the menu next to each nomination.

Managing Nominations: Drafts, Submitted and Archived

The Featuring Nominations dashboard has three sections, according to Apple's nomination help. Drafts can be edited freely. Submitted nominations can be edited too, except for the type and the related apps, which lock once you submit. Archived nominations cannot be restored or edited, but you can duplicate or export them.

Duplicating is the fastest way to start the next nomination. It copies the details and adds "copy" to the name, but leaves out the publish date, platforms, any plans for first market launches and the supplemental materials, so you fill those in again for the new release.

Deleting is permanent. A submitted nomination has to be archived before it can be deleted. Keeping old nominations archived rather than deleted gives you a record of what you pitched and when, which helps when you plan the next year's calendar.

Apple does not send a reply to every nomination. Its template says that if a plan is a fit, the team will reach out to the email address you provide. If you hear nothing, the nomination was still read, according to Apple's own session, and the next one starts from zero.

How to Become App of the Day or Game of the Day

App of the Day and Game of the Day are stories on the Today tab on iPhone and iPad, handpicked and refreshed every day. Apple's Getting Featured page says all apps and games are eligible, whether brand new or around for a decade, and that the stories focus on what the editors love about the app, quick tips for users and the developers themselves.

There is no separate form. The path is the same nomination, with a pitch that gives editors material for a story: what the app does better than anything else, two or three tips a new user would thank them for, and a sentence about the people who made it. Keep the product page and screenshots current, because the story links straight to it and editors look at it when they choose.

If you are picked, Apple's promote page says you will get a notification in the App Store Connect app, which lets you choose from visual assets and share them to social media. Apple may also email team members with the Admin, App Manager or Marketing role asking for promotional artwork, so make sure those roles belong to people who read their email.

How to Get Editors' Choice on the App Store

Editors' Choice is a badge, not a slot. Apple's Getting Featured page describes it as celebrating the very best apps and games, handpicked by App Store editors around the world, that show impeccable attention to design and give innovative, enjoyable experiences. If selected, the badge appears on your product page across platforms, and the app may also appear in Editors' Choice stories on the Today tab and collections on the Apps and Games tabs.

Two details matter. Editors' Choice is curated for each App Store storefront, so an app can carry the badge in one country and not another. And it is a judgment on the app as a whole, not on one update, so it tends to follow a long record of quality rather than a single launch.

What Editors' Choice means for a user is simple: Apple's editors vouch for the app. You can mention the accolade in your marketing. Apple's product page guidance suggests putting an accolade at the end of your description or in your promotional text, which holds 170 characters and can change at any time.

App Store Awards and Apple Design Awards

Apple runs two yearly award programs on top of everyday featuring. Neither page describes a way to enter; both are chosen by Apple. Details from the App Store Awards page and the Apple Design Awards page.

App Store Awards and Apple Design Awards
ProgramWhat it honorsRecent detail
App Store AwardsThe best and most impactful apps and games of the year, selected by App Store editors, including cultural impact2025 iPhone App of the Year: Tiimo, a visual planner; the program also has a Cultural Impact category
Apple Design AwardsInnovation, ingenuity and technical achievement in app and game design2026 categories: Delight and Fun, Inclusivity, Innovation, Interaction, Social Impact, Visuals and Graphics

Both lists include small teams. The 2026 Apple Design Awards winners and finalists include apps built by solo developers, such as Guitar Wiz and Hearing Buddy, according to Apple's page. Awards draw on the same qualities as featuring, so the work that earns a Today story also builds toward them.

Product Page Checklist Before You Nominate

Editors look at your product page when they consider a nomination, and the product page is one of Apple's seven considerations. These checks use the limits on Apple's product page guidance.

  1. Step 1

    Name and Subtitle

A name up to 30 characters that is easy to spell and hints at what the app does, and a subtitle that explains the value instead of "world's best app".

  2. Step 2

    Screenshots

Up to 10, captured from the real interface. The first one to three show in search when there is no preview, so put the main benefit there. Our screenshot sizes guide lists every size.

  3. Step 3

    App Previews

Up to three videos of up to 30 seconds each, autoplaying with muted audio, so the first seconds have to work without sound.

  4. Step 4

    Promotional Text

Up to 170 characters at the top of the description, changeable any time without a new version. Use it for the news you are nominating.

  5. Step 5

    Description

A short paragraph followed by a list of main features, no keyword stuffing and no specific prices.

  6. Step 6

    Ratings and Reviews

Apple names positive ratings and reviews as part of the product page consideration. Ask with the system prompt, up to three times in 365 days per user.

  7. Step 7

    Accessibility Nutrition Labels

Declare the accessibility features you support, such as VoiceOver and Larger Text. Apple's labels overview says the labels are voluntary for now and will become required over time.

  8. Step 8

    Localization

Translate the store text and screenshots for every region in the nomination. A nomination for Japan with an English only page works against you.

Video: Apple on App Discovery, Featuring and the Product Page

Apple's 2023 tech talk on how people find apps covers the product page, search, In App Events and how editors consider apps for featuring. One detail is out of date: the talk says five In App Events per product page, and Apple now allows 10.

Apple Developer explains the product page, search, promotional features and what editors consider when they pick apps to feature. Video by Apple Developer on YouTube

Use Pre Orders and In App Events as Featuring Hooks

Editors feature moments, and two App Store features create moments you control. The first is pre orders. Apple's pre orders page says a brand new app can open pre orders 2 to 180 days before release, and an existing app entering a new region 2 to 365 days before. Pre orders show in search, and on the Today, Games and Apps tabs if the app is being actively featured. On release day the app downloads to everyone who ordered it. Nominate the launch as an App Launch and say a pre order is planned.

The second is In App Events. An event is a dated thing happening in your app, with its own card on the store, and Apple's In App Events page says you can share an event with editors for promotional consideration. Create the event, get it approved, then attach it to a New Content nomination. Our guide to App Store In App Events covers the limits, sizes and badges.

Both work because they give editors a date to write against. A nomination that says "available for pre order now, launching on the 14th" or "a 31 day challenge starting on the 1st" is easier to place in a calendar than one that says "a great update coming soon".

Time Your Nomination Around Apple's Calendar

Apple's editors plan around the year. The biggest fixed point is September, when Apple releases new operating systems, and the weeks after WWDC in June, when new features are announced. Apps that support a new feature on day one give editors something to show, which is why many developers ship their biggest update for the September release.

Seasonal and cultural moments are the other anchor. Apple's Getting Featured page says it highlights cultural and seasonal moments, and AppTweak's 2026 guide names examples such as New Year, Pride Month, Mental Health Month, Back to School, Diwali, Golden Week, Carnaval and Ramadan, and suggests preparing four to six weeks before each one. Featured selections are regionally curated, Apple says, so a moment that matters in one country is pitched for that country.

Lead times stack. For a September launch tied to a new iOS feature, the build has to be ready for the new SDK, the nomination has to be in at least three weeks before, and the app still has to clear App Review in the busiest month of the year. Our App Store review time guide shows how much longer the queue gets in September, and the app launch checklist puts the nomination into an eight week plan.

An indie developer's take on one tactic: shipping support for features from Apple's latest iOS announcement, because editors look for apps that show new technology. It is one developer's strategy, not an Apple rule.

What Happens When Your App Gets Featured

First, you may hear from Apple before it happens. If your app is being considered, Apple's Getting Featured page says it may email team members with the Admin, App Manager or Marketing role to request promotional assets, following Apple's App Store promotional artwork guidelines. Reply quickly and to spec, because the artwork is what a story is built on.

Second, for select Today tab placements such as App of the Day or Game of the Day, Apple sends a notification through the App Store Connect app. Apple's promote page says you can then choose from an assortment of visual assets and share them to social media, and the same app generates assets for other moments such as a launch or new version.

Third, traffic changes for a few days. Be ready for it: make sure servers, sign up and support can take a spike, keep the product page current, and watch App Analytics for impressions and downloads from browse traffic. Apple does not publish how many downloads a feature brings, and the effect varies with placement, country and category.

How Much Does Getting Featured Help?

Apple does not publish featuring results. The public numbers come from ASO companies and are case studies, not averages. AppTweak reports that the game Train Station 2 saw a 470% lift in organic installs and a 540% lift in organic revenue after being Game of the Day in the US. Treat a figure like that as what one top placement did for one game, not as what your app should expect.

The same guide reports that 95% of apps featured on the App Store and 96% of featured apps on Google Play hold average ratings of 4.0 or higher, from AppTweak's own 2026 benchmarks report. That fits Apple's own wording, which names positive ratings and reviews as part of the product page consideration. Our guide on how to get App Store reviews covers how to raise ratings within Apple's rules.

The lasting value is usually indirect. A feature brings a burst of downloads and ratings, which can lift rankings in search and charts for a while after the feature ends. Third party guides such as Gummicube's say this, but the size of the effect is not something anyone outside Apple can measure across the store. Plan as if the feature is a bonus on top of a launch that works without it.

Can You Pay to Be Featured on the App Store?

No. Editorial placements, App of the Day, stories, collections and Editors' Choice are chosen by Apple's editors, and Apple sells none of them. Agencies that promise a feature are selling a pitch, not a placement, and the only official channel for a pitch is the nomination form, which any developer can use for free.

What you can buy is advertising. Apple's promote page says Apple Ads can reach people on the Today tab, on the Search tab, in search results and at the bottom of product pages, in 91 countries and regions, with a 100 USD credit for eligible new accounts. Apple's discovery tech talk describes Today tab ads as built from a custom product page. These are ads, marked as ads, and buying them does not affect editorial selection.

Personalized recommendations are not bought either. Apple's Getting Featured page says they are based on people's past purchases, downloads and other activity, shown when the setting is turned on. That is the honest answer to how Apple chooses suggested apps: by what people do, not by a fee.

How to Get Featured on Google Play

Google Play works differently. AppTweak's guide says Google does not accept ongoing editorial pitches the way Apple does, and describes a Featuring Nomination form for apps and games launched within the last four months that meet Google's quality and design requirements, with minimum ratings of 3.0 for apps and 3.8 for games, plus program based collections such as Indie Games Corner and Apps Innovation Corner. Those details come from AppTweak; we could not find them in Google's Play Console help.

What Google does document is the store listing. Its preview assets help says the feature graphic is required to publish, measures 1024 by 500 pixels, and is shown when Google presents apps in a large format collection and games in groups of recommended titles. The App Store has no equivalent graphic; Apple asks for promotional artwork only when an app is being considered.

For updates, Google points developers to promotional content. Its promotional content help describes offers, time limited events and major updates that appear on the Apps or Games tab, search and the store listing, open to all games and to apps that meet its eligibility criteria. It plays the role that In App Events and New Content nominations play on the App Store.

App Store vs Google Play Featuring

The two stores side by side. Apple rows come from Apple's pages above; Google rows from Google's help where it publishes them and from AppTweak's guide where it does not, as marked.

A Featuring Nomination Calendar for One Year

Our planning template for an app that ships four meaningful releases a year. It applies Apple's three week minimum and three month recommendation to fixed dates in Apple's year; the moments and dates are examples, not Apple's schedule.

Each row gives editors at least three weeks and up to about three months. If your release dates move, edit the submitted nomination's publish date rather than creating a new one; the date stays editable after you submit.

Mistakes That Waste a Featuring Nomination

Patterns we see in nominations and product pages that make an editor's job harder. Each one is easy to fix before you press Submit Nomination.

  1. Step 1

    Nominating After the Release

A nomination for something already live gives editors no time to plan. Apple asks for weeks of notice, so nominate while the build is still in development.

  2. Step 2

    Burying the News

If the first sentence is about the company or the version number, the editor has to dig. Put the user benefit and the date first.

  3. Step 3

    Listing Every Change

A nomination is not release notes. Pick the one change worth a story and leave the bug fixes out.

  4. Step 4

    Choosing the Wrong Type

An event filed as App Enhancements, or a launch filed as New Content, sends the pitch to the wrong place. The type cannot be changed after you submit.

  5. Step 5

Nominating Regions You Do Not Support

A nomination for Japan or Brazil with an English only product page undercuts the localization consideration. Nominate where the app is ready.

  6. Step 6

A TestFlight Link That Does Not Show the Feature

If editors open the build and cannot find what you pitched, the link hurts. Point to the feature and include any login in the description.

  7. Step 7

    Roles Nobody Reads

Apple sends artwork requests to the Admin, App Manager and Marketing roles. If those belong to a former contractor, the request can go unanswered.

  8. Step 8

    Giving Up After One Try

Apple does not reply to every nomination. Nominate the next real release, and the one after; each is a new reason to look.

Why Apps Are Not Featured, and What to Do Next

Most nominations do not lead to a feature, and Apple does not explain why. From Apple's considerations, the common gaps are easy to list: the app does what many others do without a clear difference, the interface lags behind the current system design, accessibility or localization is thin for the regions nominated, the product page undersells the app, or the nomination arrived too late or said too little.

Some of those are product work and take a release or two. Others are fixable this week: a clearer first sentence in the nomination, a product page refresh, VoiceOver labels on the main screens, or translated screenshots for the markets you care about. Fix the ones you can, then nominate the next real moment.

Keep nominating. Each release, new content drop or event is a new reason for editors to look, and Apple's wording, that editors read every submission, means a steady record of clear nominations is how an app becomes familiar to the team. Getting featured once tends to be the result of a year of good releases, not a single pitch. The releases editors pass over can still reach people through your own channels: the app update announcement examples and how to market an app cover those posts and the plan behind them.

Where Spreadcast Fits Around a Feature

Featuring lights up the App Store, but the people who follow your app elsewhere only hear about it if you post. Spreadcast watches your public App Store listing every day and turns what changes there, a new version, a new 5 star review or a rating milestone, into a designed post with your own icon and screenshots in an iPhone frame, plus a caption written for each network.

It publishes to Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest and your other connected accounts on the schedule you set, and you approve with one tap or let it post by itself. The release you nominated goes out in your feeds the day it ships, whether or not editors pick it. Paste your App Store link on the start page to see a first post drafted from your listing, and see the plans for automatic publishing. Apple's own featured assets from the App Store Connect app can go out alongside.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get my app featured on the Apple App Store?

Submit a Featuring Nomination in App Store Connect, under Featuring and then Nominations, at least three weeks before the date and ideally up to three months ahead. Make the app strong on Apple's seven considerations: user experience, UI design, innovation, uniqueness, accessibility, localization and the product page.

What are App Store Connect featuring nominations?

A form in App Store Connect, introduced at WWDC24, where you tell Apple's editors about an upcoming launch, update or new content. You pick a type, describe it, set a date and regions, and can attach In App Events and up to five links. Editors review every nomination; they reach out if it is a fit.

Can I send an App Store featuring request without App Store Connect?

Featuring Nominations in App Store Connect is the channel Apple's Getting Featured page points to. It needs the Account Holder, Admin, App Manager or Marketing role, so ask your account holder to give you one of those if you cannot see the Featuring section.

How do I become App of the Day on the App Store?

There is no separate application. Apple says all apps and games are eligible for App of the Day and Game of the Day, new or old, and the stories focus on what editors love, tips for users and the developers. Nominate your next release with a story editors can tell.

How do I get Editors' Choice on the App Store?

Editors' Choice is chosen by Apple's editors for each storefront, for apps with impeccable design and innovative, enjoyable experiences. There is no form for it. It usually follows a long record of quality, so focus on the app and keep nominating real updates.

What does Editors' Choice mean on the App Store?

It means App Store editors in that country consider the app one of the very best in its field. The Editors' Choice badge appears on the product page across platforms, and the app may appear in Editors' Choice stories and collections.

What is the App Store Today tab?

The front page of the App Store on iPhone and iPad. It carries editorial stories, App of the Day, Game of the Day, lists, In App Events and some Apple Ads placements, which are marked as ads.

How does Apple choose suggested apps?

Personalized recommendations are based on a person's past purchases, downloads and other App Store activity, when the setting is turned on. Editorial features are picked by people on Apple's editorial team. Neither can be bought.

Is App of the Day free?

Being App of the Day costs nothing and is not a price promotion. Paid and subscription apps are featured too; Apple says it showcases quality apps across all business models.

What is the App Store feature graphic size?

The App Store has no feature graphic. Apple asks for promotional artwork only when an app is being considered for featuring. Google Play's feature graphic, required for every listing, is 1024 by 500 pixels.

How do I get featured on the Play Store?

Google does not take ongoing pitches the way Apple does. Build a stable, highly rated app with a strong store listing and feature graphic, use promotional content for events and updates, and, according to AppTweak, use Google's nomination form for apps launched in the past four months.

Can you pay to be featured on the App Store?

No. Editorial features cannot be bought. Apple Ads can buy an ad on the Today tab or in search, which is labeled as an ad and separate from editorial picks.
