What a TikTok Slideshow Is and What a TikTok Slideshow Maker Does

A TikTok slideshow is a photo post: a set of still pictures that people swipe through, with a caption and, if you add one in the app, a sound underneath. TikTok calls it Photo Mode. TikTok's announcement from October 2022 described it as a carousel format for photo content, available on mobile, with music to soundtrack the images. Today one photo post can hold up to 35 pictures, according to TikTok's photo post reference for developers.

People also use the word slideshow for something else: a video made of pictures, where each picture sits on screen for a second or two and cuts to the next. That is a video file, edited in something like CapCut, and it plays on its own. A photo post does not play; the viewer swipes. The two look alike in a list of search results, they are not the same thing on TikTok, and the difference decides which tool you need and whether you can post from a computer.

A TikTok slideshow maker is any tool that turns your pictures or your idea into those slides at the right size. The simple ones give you templates and a download button. The AI ones write the text on each slide and pick or generate the pictures. A few, Spreadcast among them, also post the finished slideshow to your TikTok account and keep a calendar of what goes out when.

We make Spreadcast, so read the comparison further down with that in mind. Spreadcast is built for people who market an iPhone app: you paste your App Store link and it designs slideshows from your real screenshots, icon, colors and fonts, writes the caption, and posts the slideshow to TikTok from whatever computer you are on. If you are an indie developer working out how to promote an app on TikTok, that is the job this page is about. If you only want to know how to make a slideshow on TikTok in the app, or how to post one from a PC, the guide sections work whether you ever sign up or not.

Photo posts are not a side format anymore. TikTok's business blog says the Photo Mode publish rate grew five fold between June 2023 and July 2024, by TikTok's internal data. Indie app makers noticed early, which is why there is now a small market of tools that sell slideshow automation to them.

How it works

How to Make a TikTok Slideshow in Spreadcast

This is the full path from an App Store link to a slideshow on your TikTok profile. It runs in a web browser on your phone, a Mac, a Windows PC or a Chromebook, with nothing to install.

  1. 1

    Paste Your App Store Link

Start at Spreadcast's sign up page and paste the link to your app. Spreadcast reads the public listing: the icon, the screenshots, the colors, the release notes and the rating. If your app has a website, it also picks up the logo and fonts from there. There is no SDK to add and no App Store Connect access to grant, because everything it needs is already public.

  2. 2

    Check the Brand It Built

You get a brand profile: colors, fonts, logo and the screens it found. Swap a color or upload better screenshots if the ones on your listing are old. Every slideshow after this point is drawn from that profile, so five minutes here saves fixing each post later.

  3. 3

    Ask for a Slideshow

Open Create, choose Generate a Post and say what the slideshow is about in plain words, for example "5 slides on how the streak freeze works" or "a carousel about our new widget". Spreadcast designs a carousel of 3 to 8 slides: a cover that states the point, slides with your real app screens in an iPhone frame or frameless, and a last slide that points people to the App Store.

  4. 4

Edit the Slides on the Canvas

Click any word to rewrite it, change a color, swap a screenshot or reorder the slides. Nothing is a locked template. If you would rather use your own pictures, choose Upload My Own and add up to 10 pictures from your computer, and Spreadcast treats them as the slideshow.

  5. 5

Pick TikTok and Who Can See It

Under Post To, tick TikTok, and any other network you want the same slides on. TikTok asks every app that posts for you to let you choose who can see the post, so the editor shows your account's own options, such as Everyone, Friends, Followers or Only Me. Spreadcast writes a caption for TikTok that you can edit, and a separate one for each other network.

  6. 6

    Schedule It or Post It

The slideshow takes the next free slot on your calendar, or you drag it to another day. Before it is scheduled, Spreadcast checks it against TikTok's limits, such as caption length, so a problem shows up now and not at 9 in the morning. At its time the slideshow goes to your TikTok profile as a real photo post that people swipe, within minutes of the slot.

How to Post a Slideshow on TikTok From a PC

This is the question most people searching for a TikTok slideshow maker are really asking, and the honest answer depends on your account and on what you call a slideshow.

TikTok documents photo posts for its phone app. TikTok's help article on making a post walks you through tapping the plus button, choosing photos and posting up to 35 of them from the app. Its steps for a web browser are written around selecting a video file. TikTok's own scheduler on the web is described the same way: TikTok's announcement of the video scheduler says you can schedule videos from 15 minutes to 10 days ahead on the web upload page, and that desktop scheduling needs a Business Account. Some creators report a photo option showing up on the web upload page for their accounts. TikTok's help does not describe it as of today, so open tiktok.com, start an upload and see what your account offers before you plan around it.

If your account has no photo option on the web, you have four ways to get a slideshow from your computer to TikTok.

First, send the slides to your phone and post them in the app. AirDrop, a shared folder or an email to yourself all work. It is free and you get every feature of the app, including the sound picker. The cost is that you are back on your phone every time you post, which is exactly what most people searching for a PC answer are trying to avoid.

Second, turn the slides into a video on your computer and upload that. CapCut's slideshow maker builds a video from pictures and music and exports it, and a video can be uploaded and scheduled on tiktok.com. You lose the swipe: viewers watch your slides go past at your pace, and the post counts as a video, not a photo post.

Third, use a tool connected to TikTok's Content Posting API. That is TikTok's official route for apps to publish to your profile, and the photo post reference shows it takes up to 35 pictures as one photo post. The tool runs in your browser, so the computer you use does not matter. Spreadcast works this way, and so do schedulers such as Buffer and slideshow tools such as ReelFarm. One detail to check before you pick one: TikTok's getting started guide says content posted by apps that have not passed TikTok's audit is restricted to private viewing, so an unaudited tool will put your slideshow on your profile where only you can see it.

Fourth, if your account does show a photo upload on the TikTok website, use it. Make the slides wherever you like, at the sizes in the table below, and upload them by hand.

So, can you make TikTok slideshows on a PC? Yes. Making them was never the hard part; any design tool on a computer makes the pictures. Posting them as a swipeable photo post from a computer is the part that needs either a photo option on your web account or a tool that posts through TikTok's API. Spreadcast does both halves in one place, and the same post can go to Instagram as a carousel at the same time, which is covered on our Instagram carousel maker page.

TikTok Photo Carousel Size and Ratio: 9:16 or 4:5

The size for a TikTok slideshow that fills the screen is 1080 x 1920 pixels, a 9:16 ratio. That is the shape of a phone held upright, and TikTok's carousel ad specifications list a vertical 9:16 size alongside square and wide ones. Apps that post for you can send pictures up to 1080p, per TikTok's media transfer guide, so 1080 x 1920 is also the largest size worth making.

Full screen is not the whole story, because TikTok draws on top of your slide. The caption, the account name and the sound line sit across the bottom, and the like, comment and share buttons run down the right side. On a 9:16 slide, keep the words in the middle of the picture, away from the bottom fifth and the right edge. A headline placed low on the slide is a headline nobody reads.

The other common size is 1080 x 1350, a 4:5 ratio, which is the portrait size Instagram uses for carousels. On TikTok a 4:5 slide fills the width of the screen and leaves room above and below it. You give up some height, and in return the same slides work on Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook without a second design. A 4:5 slide also keeps its text clear of TikTok's buttons almost by default, because the buttons sit over the empty space.

Spreadcast designs slideshows at 1080 x 1350 for that reason: one set of slides, every network. If TikTok is the only place you post and you want every pixel of the screen, a 9:16 tool or template is the better fit, and our social media image sizes reference lists the sizes for each network side by side.

App screenshots need one more thought. A screenshot from a recent large iPhone is taller than either shape: Apple's screenshot specifications list portrait sizes such as 1290 x 2796 for the large Dynamic Island iPhones. Drop one straight onto a 9:16 slide and it gets cropped or shrunk with bars at the sides. Putting the screen inside an iPhone frame on a colored background, which Spreadcast does by default and our free iPhone mockup generator does by hand, solves both the crop and the blank edges.

Why TikTok Slideshows Work for App Marketing

For an app maker, a slideshow has one plain advantage over video: you already own the material. Your app's screens, your release notes and your reviews are slides waiting to be made. No filming, no voiceover, no editing timeline. That is why TikTok slideshow app marketing has become a known tactic among indie developers, and why a handful of tools now sell it.

TikTok's own description of its feed explains why a swipe format can do well. TikTok's post on how the For You feed recommends videos lists likes, shares, comments and the accounts you follow among the signals, alongside details such as captions, sounds and hashtags. A slideshow asks for an action on every slide, and a good one makes people go back to a slide or save it for later. Those are the interactions the feed counts.

What should go on the slides is the harder question. Joseph Choi, who runs Viral App Founders, told RevenueCat's Sub Club podcast that apps do best on TikTok with short, visually impactful stories rather than feature lists, and that good content can reach people from zero followers. A slideshow is a good fit for a story: slide one is the problem, the middle slides are your app solving it on real screens, the last slide says where to get it. It is a poor fit for ten features in a row. We go further into why a list of screens reads like a brochure in why your app feed looks like a slideshow, and into what makes people stop on a post in what makes a social creative convert.

About money. People search "TikTok slideshows money" because of screenshots of app revenue posted next to slideshow accounts. Two things are worth knowing. TikTok does not pay for slideshows directly in the way most people imagine: TikTok's Creator Rewards terms count videos of at least one minute and exclude Business Accounts. So a slideshow makes money for an app maker through what it sells, the installs and subscriptions that follow, not through a payout. And nobody, including us, can promise those installs. We do not quote view counts or download numbers on this page because they vary too much from one app and one week to the next to mean anything for yours.

What you can control is the cost of trying. If a slideshow takes you an hour to design, you will make a few and stop. If it takes two minutes to approve, you can post several a week for a month and see what your audience responds to. That is the whole reason slideshow automation exists.

Seven TikTok Slideshow Makers Compared: Spreadcast, ReelFarm, SlideStorm, CapCut

Seven tools people use to make or post TikTok slideshows, with prices read on each vendor's own page on November 2, 2026. Spreadcast is ours and comes first because it is the only one here that builds slideshows from your App Store listing and posts the same slides to TikTok and the other networks you use. The rest are ranked by how much of the job they take off you.

  1. 1

    Spreadcast

Free to try, Pro $29 a month with publishing to every network

Best for app makers who want slideshows made from their real app and posted for them

Spreadcast reads your App Store listing and designs slideshows from your real screenshots, icon, colors and fonts, writes the caption for each network, and posts the slideshow to TikTok as a photo post from any computer. The same slides go to Instagram as a carousel and to LinkedIn and Facebook as multi image posts, each with its own caption.

It also watches your listing every day. When a new version comes out, it drafts an update post with two or three points from your release notes and a real screen; when you pass a rating milestone, it drafts a thank you post. You approve each one with a tap, or switch on full autopilot on a paid plan and they go out at 9 in the morning your time.

Pro is $29 a month for one app and 10 social accounts, with clean posts and publishing to every network included. Claude and ChatGPT can make and schedule slideshows through Spreadcast's MCP server, covered on our TikTok MCP server page.

    Pros

    • Slides from your real app screens and brand, never stock photos
    • Posts real swipeable photo posts to TikTok from a browser
    • Same slideshow to Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, Threads and Pinterest
    • Calendar, scheduling and checks against TikTok's limits

    Cons

    • Slideshows go out without music; add a sound in TikTok if you need one
    • Made for iPhone apps; without one you upload your own slides
    • Designs at 4:5, not full screen 9:16
  2. 2

    ReelFarm

    From $49 a month

Best for high volume AI slideshows on many TikTok accounts

ReelFarm generates TikTok slideshows with AI and publishes them to TikTok. ReelFarm's pricing page lists Growth at $49 a month for 100 slideshows, Scale at $95 for 250 and Enterprise at $195 for 750, each with TikTok publishing, scheduling, unlimited TikTok accounts and team members, and API access. You can make 3 TikToks free before paying.

It is built for volume: many formats, many accounts, a steady stream of posts. The page talks about reusing slideshows on Instagram and LinkedIn but does not list publishing to them, so plan to post those yourself.

    Pros

    • Built for posting volume
    • Unlimited TikTok accounts on every plan
    • TikTok publishing and scheduling included

    Cons

    • Highest starting price here
    • Pricing page lists TikTok publishing only
    • Generated slides, not your app's own design system
  3. 3

    SlideStorm

    From $19 a month

Best for generating many slideshow drafts from one prompt

SlideStorm is an AI TikTok slideshow generator. SlideStorm's site lists Starter at $19 a month with 300 credits and 5 TikTok accounts, Pro at $49 with 900 credits and 25 accounts, and Premium at $99 with 2,100 credits and 100 accounts. A slideshow costs 1 credit and an AI image 3, and one prompt can produce up to 10 slideshows.

It has an editor for text, pictures and layout, a stock image library, uploads of your own pictures and a setting to keep the same character across slides, which matters for story style accounts.

    Pros

    • Low entry price
    • Bulk generation from one prompt
    • Uploads of your own pictures

    Cons

    • Credits run down with AI images
    • Publishing details are thin on the site
    • TikTok only by design
  4. 4

    SlideReels

    $15 a month, billed yearly

Best for making slideshows and short AI videos on a small budget

SlideReels makes TikTok slideshows and short AI videos for promoting a product. SlideReels' site lists a yearly plan at $15 a month, billed $180 a year, with 25 slideshows, 15 videos and 250 AI images a month. You download the slides as a zip or send them to TikTok and finish the post in the TikTok app.

    Pros

    • Cheapest paid plan here
    • Slideshows and videos in one tool

    Cons

    • Posting is finished by hand in the TikTok app
    • No scheduling described
    • Yearly billing for the listed price
  5. 5

    CapCut

    Free, with paid plans

Best when you want a slideshow video with music, made on a computer

CapCut is the video editor from TikTok's parent company. CapCut's slideshow maker builds a video from your pictures with templates, transitions and a library of royalty free music, and its page says the free export has no watermark. It is the right tool if "TikTok slideshow video maker" is what you meant.

The result is a video, not a photo post, so viewers watch instead of swipe. Paid plans add AI features and storage, and CapCut shows their price in your local currency.

    Pros

    • Free and capable
    • Music and transitions
    • Exports a file you can upload on tiktok.com

    Cons

    • Makes a video, not a swipeable photo post
    • You design every slide yourself
    • No posting calendar for photo posts
  6. 6

    Canva

    Free, with paid plans

Best for designing slides by hand from templates

Canva has templates sized for TikTok that you can turn into slides, and the free plan is enough to design and download them. You still post the slides yourself, and every slideshow starts from a blank template that you fill with your screens and words.

If you are weighing Canva against a tool that designs for you, our Canva comparison goes through the hours per post on each side.

    Pros

    • Huge template library
    • Free plan covers design and download

    Cons

    • All design work is yours
    • Posting a TikTok photo post is still a separate step
  7. 7

    Buffer

Free for 3 channels, paid from $5 a channel a month

Best for scheduling slides you already designed

Buffer is a scheduler, not a maker, but it posts TikTok photo posts. Buffer's TikTok help article lists up to 10 images per TikTok post, and says that because of API limits it cannot reach TikTok's music library, so posts that need a sound are sent to your phone to finish. Buffer's pricing page lists a free plan for up to 3 channels and Essentials from $5 a channel a month.

    Pros

    • Free plan
    • Schedules TikTok photo posts from a computer

    Cons

    • Makes nothing; bring finished slides
    • Same music limit as every API tool

How to Schedule TikTok Slideshows and Automate TikTok Posts

There are two kinds of TikTok scheduling and they cover different posts. TikTok's own scheduler is free, lives on the web upload page and, per TikTok's announcement, schedules videos from 15 minutes to 10 days ahead, with desktop scheduling on a Business Account. That is the answer to how to schedule TikTok videos for free. It is described for videos, and you upload each one by hand.

The other kind is a tool that posts through TikTok's Content Posting API. It holds the post on its own calendar and sends it to TikTok at the time you set, which is how a TikTok slideshow gets scheduled from a computer. These are the auto posting apps for TikTok people search for. They all share TikTok's rules: TikTok's content sharing guidelines require the app to show you a preview, make you pick who can see the post with no default, ask before anything is sent and include TikTok's music usage confirmation. A tool that skips those steps is not following TikTok's rules.

In Spreadcast, a slideshow takes the next free slot on your calendar when you approve it, and you drag it to another day if the slot does not suit. Posts go out within minutes of their time. Before a slideshow is scheduled, it is checked against each network's limits, and if TikTok refuses a post anyway, the calendar shows which network and why, with a Try Again button.

Automation goes one step further. Spreadcast checks your App Store listing every day. A new version becomes an update post with two or three points from the release notes and a real screen, written in your listing's language; bug fix only releases are skipped, and versions older than two weeks are never announced. A rating milestone becomes a thank you post. In Approve first mode, the default, each one waits on your Dashboard for one tap. In Full autopilot, on paid plans, each one is scheduled at 9 in the morning your time on every connected network.

If you already work in Claude or ChatGPT, you can skip the dashboard entirely: ask for "a 5 slide TikTok slideshow about the new widget for Tuesday, visible to everyone" and the draft lands on your calendar. We wrote up that workflow in how to schedule social media posts with Claude, and the general method, with or without Spreadcast, is in how to automate social media posts. For a wider look at tools that automate posting, see our social media automation tools roundup and the auto post to social media feature page.

One limit applies to everyone. TikTok caps how many posts an app can publish to an account per day and returns an error when the cap is reached, without saying what the number is. Planning one or two slideshows a day keeps you far from it, and that is a sensible pace for a small account anyway.

Mistakes That Kill TikTok Slideshow Reach

Most slideshows that go nowhere fail for one of these reasons. None of them are fixed by posting more.

  • Reposting Slides You Did Not Make

TikTok's integrity rules say content is ineligible for the For You feed if it includes unoriginal or reused material without anything new. A slideshow of someone else's screenshots or another account's slides will sit on your profile and travel nowhere.

  • A Cover That Says Nothing

The first slide decides whether anyone swipes. Your app's name and logo on a gradient is not a reason to swipe. Put the problem or the promise on slide one in under ten words.

  • Words Under TikTok's Buttons

Text at the bottom of a 9:16 slide sits under the caption, and text at the right edge sits under the buttons. Keep headlines in the middle band, or design at 4:5 so the buttons fall in the empty space.

  • Ten Features in Ten Slides

A feature list reads like an App Store description, and people already skipped that. Pick one job your app does and show it from start to finish.

  • Posting Privately Without Knowing It

A tool that has not passed TikTok's audit can only post to private viewing, per TikTok's getting started guide. If your slideshows show zero views, open one in the TikTok app and check who can see it before you blame the content.

  • Trending Songs on a Business Account

TikTok's Commercial Music Library page says businesses cannot use the general music library for commercial use and should use the Commercial Music Library, which covers organic posts too. A trending song on a brand's slideshow can get the sound muted.

  • Realistic AI Pictures With No Label

TikTok requires creators to label AI generated content that shows realistic looking scenes or people, according to the same integrity rules. AI slideshow tools make that easy to forget. Real app screens avoid the question.

  • Stopping After Four Posts

Every account has slow weeks. Decide on a pace you can keep for a month, such as three slideshows a week, before you judge the format. Batch them: make a week of slides in one sitting and schedule them, so a busy week does not break the run.

TikTok Photo Carousel Not Working: What to Check

If you cannot find Photo Mode in the app, update TikTok first. TikTok's help describes the flow as tapping the plus button, choosing Photo, then Upload, and picking your pictures from the camera roll. Photo posts are made in the app or sent by a connected tool; a slideshow exported as a video file is a video post, with no swipe.

If a tool says your slideshow was sent but it does not appear, check three things. The pictures must meet TikTok's limits for apps: JPEG or WebP, up to 1080p and 20 MB each, per TikTok's media transfer guide. The account may have hit TikTok's daily cap for posts sent by apps. And an unaudited tool posts privately, so the slideshow may be there and visible only to you.

If the post went up but has no sound, that is expected from any tool that posts through TikTok's API without asking TikTok to add a track. Spreadcast posts slideshows without music. When a sound matters for a particular slideshow, post that one from the TikTok app, where you can pick it.

If you posted from a computer and the slides look cut off, the pictures were probably a different shape from the screen. Use 1080 x 1920 for full screen, or 1080 x 1350 if you post the same slides on Instagram, and keep words away from the bottom and the right edge.

In Spreadcast, a refused post never fails quietly. The calendar marks the post, names the network and gives TikTok's reason in plain words, with Try Again once you have fixed it. Caption length is checked against each network's limit before anything is scheduled; our social media character limits page lists those limits for every network.

Post the Same Slideshow to Instagram and Every Other Network

A slideshow that took effort to make should not live on one network. The slides Spreadcast designs are 1080 x 1350, the portrait carousel size on Instagram, so the same post goes out as a real carousel on Instagram, a photo slideshow on TikTok, and a multi image post on LinkedIn and Facebook. Threads, Pinterest, Bluesky, Mastodon, Telegram and Discord get it too if you connect them.

Each network gets its own caption. TikTok captions tend to be short with a few hashtags; LinkedIn wants a sentence or two of context; Bluesky and Threads read best as plain talk. Spreadcast writes each one separately from the same idea, and you can edit any of them before it goes out. The details are on our cross posting page, and the Instagram side has its own page for the Instagram carousel maker.

You can connect several accounts per network, which matters if you run a personal TikTok and a brand one. If you have more than one app, the Studio plan keeps up to 5 apps apart, each with its own brand and accounts. App studios and teams will find more on our page for mobile apps and for indie hackers.

What Spreadcast Does Not Do on TikTok

It does not add music. Slideshows go to TikTok as silent photo posts. If a slideshow needs a sound, post that one from the TikTok app.

It does not edit video or generate video. You can upload a finished video from your computer and schedule it, but the slideshows Spreadcast designs are still pictures.

It does not post more than 10 pictures in one post, although TikTok accepts 35. The slideshows it designs have 3 to 8 slides, which is the range that holds attention on a phone anyway.

It does not read your TikTok numbers. Spreadcast asks TikTok only for basic account details and permission to post, so views and likes for TikTok are in TikTok Studio. Its analytics cover the networks that share them, starting with interactions and followers gained.

It works best with an iPhone app on the App Store, because that is where the screens, colors and release notes come from. Without one, you can still upload your own slides and use Spreadcast to post and schedule them, but the design half is yours.

Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you post a slideshow on TikTok from a PC?

TikTok's help documents photo posts for the phone app, and its web upload steps are written for video. If your account shows a photo option on tiktok.com, use it. If not, send the slides to your phone, turn them into a video and upload that, or use a tool that posts through TikTok's Content Posting API, such as Spreadcast, which sends a real swipeable photo post from any browser.

Can you make TikTok slideshows on PC?

Yes. Any design tool on a computer can make the slides, and Spreadcast designs them for you from your app's screens and brand. Posting them as a photo post from a computer needs either a photo option on your TikTok web account or a tool that posts through TikTok's API.

What size should a TikTok slideshow be?

1080 x 1920 pixels, a 9:16 ratio, fills the screen. 1080 x 1350, a 4:5 ratio, fills the width and also works as an Instagram carousel. Keep words away from the bottom and the right edge, where TikTok's caption and buttons sit.

How many photos can a TikTok slideshow have?

Up to 35 pictures in one photo post, in the app and through TikTok's API. Most slideshows that hold attention use far fewer; Spreadcast designs 3 to 8 slides and posts up to 10 pictures.

Is there a free TikTok slideshow maker?

Several. CapCut makes slideshow videos for free, Canva's free plan designs and downloads slides, and Spreadcast's free plan makes 3 posts from your App Store listing, which can be slideshows, to download and post yourself. Posting for you is on paid plans.

Can you schedule a TikTok slideshow?

TikTok's free scheduler on the web is described for videos, up to 10 days ahead. To schedule a photo slideshow from a computer, use a tool that posts through TikTok's API. In Spreadcast the slideshow takes a slot on your calendar and goes out within minutes of it.

Can I add music to a TikTok slideshow posted from a computer?

Not through Spreadcast, which posts slideshows without a sound. Apps can only ask TikTok to add a recommended track, and many schedulers cannot reach TikTok's music library at all. If a slideshow needs a specific song, post it from the TikTok app.

Do TikTok slideshows make money?

Not through TikTok's Creator Rewards, which counts videos of at least one minute and excludes Business Accounts. For an app maker, a slideshow earns through the installs and subscriptions it leads to, and results vary too much to promise any number.
